The party-loving "revitalizer class" in North Minneapolis (NoMi) will seize upon nearly any excuse for a champagne toast, including the recent "half a legal victory" in the Jerry Moore v. John Hoff a/k/a Johnny Northside defamation lawsuit. Heck, if we'll toast to a whorehouse being demolished we'll sure toast "half a victory" in court.

The verdict in the lawsuit was, of course, THIS BLOG TOLD THE TRUTH when I said Jerry Moore was involved in a high-profile fraudulent mortgage at 1564 Hillside Ave. N. From that legal determination of truth, victory can be wrestled out of the rest of the ruling, especially with so much high-powered legal help coming out of the woodwork to get a piece of the action, and God bless 'em, every one. But I still think this one may go all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. Something in my gut just says so, though it's hard to put one's law-trained finger upon the precise "issue of first impression."

But back to the subject at hand...a drinking party!

...drink champagne. Who cares what you use as a cup, so long as the cup is filled with bubbly? Ann Yin is visible in the photo. Her local and organic foods store, Local D'Lish, continues to garner accolades far and wide. With the end of winter, farmers markets will spring up all over, but where was the living green fire of the farmer's market kept alive during the long, severe winter? In Ann's store.

That's where you can find a farmer's market during the winter, and virtually nowhere else. Just as spring comes "up from the valley" in the mountains of Virginia, so do springtime farmer's markets "come forth from the door of Ann Yin's store." Ann Yin made what was, to me, the most moving toast of the night: because this blog is not afraid to speak out, others do not feel afraid. If this blog falters, if this blog is afraid, others will be afraid as well.

That can't happen.



The champagne was given to Megan Goodmundson by one of her relatives, who was moving and was all, like, "I don't really need this magnum of French champagne." So we dubbed it "freegan champagne" because it was free.

Ed Kohler of The Deets blog shows up, and poses with the champagne. He was off to some exotic city to inspect the toilet paper. I think Ed Kohler was about going crazy to be a witness in the trial, and be part of the circus. Too bad he didn't get a chance to testify, but his name was on the plaintiff's witness list so Kohler gets his footnote in "blogosphere trial of the century" history.



Joel Breeggemann, the "get to NoMi" guy, was already at the bar and kindly made an appearance at our gathering. He talked about how he remembered, very well, a homophobic rant Jerry Moore launched into right after an article was published in Lavender Magazine about how NoMi is the "gayborhood of the year."



Eric Johnson, from the Irving Inquisition blog, drains the last few drops of champagne from the bottle. Maybe some crafty lawyer can use this picture to accuse Eric Johnson of blogging while intoxicated.

Brian Finstad's Canadian relative is home shopping in North Minneapolis and has been for a while, looking to expand the revitalizer empire. At social events like the "Johnny Northside half a victory party" we plan, we exchange information, we renew our bonds which are already strong like soldiers in a platoon, facing adversity but bringing about victory.

This is our neighborhood. We're not leaving. The thugs, mortgage fraudsters, and Level Three sex offenders, THEY are the ones who will be LEAVING. We are sticking around, and turning this place into Urban Utopia for our children, and our children's children.

Damn Right We're Appealing--Motion For Judgment As A Matter Of Law

Here is as much of an update as I can give readers right now but don't worry...you can see the blog is running full blast and, in fact, we're suddenly freer to write about the mortgage fraud at 1564 Hillside Ave. N.

Tynessia Snoddy recently took a plea bargain, as exclusively reported here, but documents filed by the prosecutor in that case allege Snoddy was involved in the fraud at 1564 Hillside Ave. N. and a bunch of other properties. All kinds of "little fish" are named in the documents. More documents are coming.

In the Moore v. Hoff matter, my lawyer has filed a Motion For Judgment As A Matter of Law. This isn't exactly an appeal, not yet. Rather, the Motion asks the Honorable Judge to rule on the case, notwithstanding the verdict of the jury, since the verdict is alleged to be incorrect as a matter of law. We're on firm legal ground that Truth is not tortious interference with the job of a public figure at a public institution.

So the motion is filed and...

...a supporting brief is being written. Offers of help are arriving from various lawyers and there may be some amicus curie briefs, as well.

I say "You really can't have too many friends" and the word "amicus" means "friend."

The more, the merrier.

Whatever Became Of Good Ol' Thomas Wayne Evenstad, The "Chat Line Rapist?" (We'd Love To Tell You, But, Um, It's Complicated...)

Wouldn't I just love to tell you all about Thomas Wayne Evanstad, the chat line rapist, and where he has ended up! First, let's familiarize ourselves with this smiling, pleasant-faced creep, whose crimes at the end of the 1990s surely must have spread fear through the ranks of female chat line users throughout Minnesota, if not the Midwest or the nation. Thank god internet dating sites are now more popular than chat lines and we're all much safer. (Sarcasm font)

This appeal, linked below, provides a good overview of what Evanstad did. An 18-year-old female met Evanstad through a "chat line" service. Evanstad picked up the young woman at her aunt's house, took her to his own house, and raped her. Taking matters into her own hands, performing her own investigation (this is so often how something gets ACCOMPLISHED in the criminal justice system) the victim contacted other women on the chat line and found two other victims who were willing to testify in regard to "sexual misconduct" by Evanstad.

An Eden Prairie man raped a woman he met through a telephone chat line, a jury decided Friday in Hennepin County.

Thomas W. Evenstad, 33, had claimed that the sexual activity was consensual. The jury deliberated about five hours before convicting him of first- and third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

District Judge Francis Connolly will sentence Evenstad on April 16. Sentencing guidelines recommend a prison term of at least seven years.

The woman reported in January 1998 that she had been assaulted. The assault happened sometime between Oct. 25, 1997, and Nov. 18, 1997, in Evenstad's home. He lived in Richfield at the time.

So! Wow, wouldn't I love to tell readers more. I think readers in North Minneapolis have a right to know the infamous "chat line rapist" is out of prison, and from time to time he has performed duties which (I assert) touch upon controversial, newsworthy issues in North Minneapolis politics. Though not exactly upon the center stage, he has been near the stage playing a visible role as certain Northside dramas proceed.

If I were free to do so, I might even cite facts I know about and then wonder aloud--not without firm basis--whether in the course of his duties Evanstad may have reason to come into contact or close proximity with other sex offenders and then--the next leap is rather logical--wonder whether that's really ALLOWED, whether or not his "supervised release" conditions might prohibit that?

Yeah, I'd like to write all that stuff. But the simple fact is this blog is under an intense legal attack which has gotten the attention of lawyers all over this nation and--using my best judgment, here--discretion seems the better part of valor for the time being. So I'm throwing some information out, but it's all very PUBLIC information and the rest is vague, oh so vague, and speculative, and hypothetical.

So here's the deal. If any commenter--not an ANONYMOUS commenter, but a commenter who can be readily identified--wants to speak in their own name and say what they know, I will publish it. If readers want to--oh, how would the Coffee Talk lady put it so well?--Talk amongst yourselves--then go ahead and talk, and send email links, and do whatever it is readers do with the information I publish.

But, as the mainstream media puts it so well, sometimes the truth DOESN'T set you free. Sometimes even this blog doesn't dare publish the truth.

Criminal Complaint, Luis A. Paredes-Quito, Accused Of Sexually Assaulting A Young Relative...

Paredes-Quito is accused of repeated sexual assault of a young relative and also first degree criminal stupidity for pretty much admitting everything while talking to the girl on a wiretapped jail phone. Police have done the human gene pool a serious favor by locking this guy up. God Bless The Fourth Precinct and the Hennepin County Prosecutor.

The complaint seems to allege the criminal acts took place at the home of Paredes-Quito which, according to the complaint, is 3118 Dupont Ave. N.

Looking up the address, I expect to find the name of a local slumlord (as usual) but, no, turns out the man owns his house.

Just goes to show you slumlords can't be blamed for EVERYTHING, and not all homeowners are good people.

Tynessia Snoddy Criminal File (Part One Of Heaven Only Knows How Many)

Tynessia Snoddy--who was a criminal associate of Larry Maxwell, a mortgage fraudster currently doing 16 1/2 years in prison--recently pleaded guilty to two felony counts, as exclusively reported on this blog. The prosecutor was none other than Brad Johnson, the same dedicated public servant who got the Larry "Maximum" Maxwell conviction.

In the "B Vault" of the Hennepin County Government Building--where so many good caches of information reside, click here for an example--I finally got mucho sexy alone time with that fetching file, and it was an unforgettable experience...

There are a number of documents in that file which I hope to post as PDFs. Currently, I have one hard copy in my hands of one document, thanks to having $8 due to donations from supporters. So I'll have to laboriously type it out, but that's OK. Easier for the Googlebots to crawl all over. With more donations we can get, for example, LICENSE PLATE INFORMATION for other incidents.

The most interesting document--well, interesting to me because it mentions 1564 Hillside Ave. N., not just once but TWICE--is called STATE'S STATEMENT AND NOTICE OF EVIDENCE OF PARTICULAR WRONGS OR ACTS OF IMPEACHMENT EVIDENCE. (February 26, 2010) The document outlines the prosecutor's "res gestae," which means "the events at issue, or other events contemporaneous with them." It includes "evidence of other crimes, wrongs or acts" alleged to have been committed but NOT CHARGED. These instances may be used for "impeachment." In other words: to prove Tynessia Snoddy is a lying, criminally-inclined, no account thuggerina who ought to be in prison.

The fraud included, inter alia, misleading purchase terms and purchase agreement addenda, multiple settlement statements, falsified income, employment, deposit and identity information, and the purchase was orchestrated in part by the Defendant, Larry Maxwell, and other accomplices to be financed with mortgage loans by a fake borrower.

Furthermore, the Defendant was at around the same time as the charged crimes and the specific bad acts listed above, also engaged in the fraudulent procurement and multiple attempts to procure student loans in violation of (etc. etc.) in the names of individuals whose identities she had stolen by herself or with the assistance of others, including Lamont Nelson. This misconduct is part of the nature of the relationship between Defendant Snoddy and Lamont Nelson.

At this time the State keeps oepn its offer to the Defense to inspect and copy.. etc... documents...Minnetonka Police Department and Hennepin County Attorney's Office...the extraordinary opportunity she had to commit these offenses as a licensed professional, her intent, her preparation and the methods of her preparation, her involvement in planning the fraud, her knowledge of how to commit the fraud, the utter absence of there being mistake by her in the charged conduct, and that her acts with respect to the charged properties were part of a common scheme or plan to commit mortgage fraud and her modus operandi.

Finally, the evidence constitutes specific instances of untruthfulness admissible under Rule 608(b) of the Minnesota Rules of Evidence as impeachment evidence and evidence of Defendant's character for untruthfulness.

Word reaches me that on March 10, 2011, North Minneapolis Slumlord Keith Reitman was notified of his removal from the board of directors of the Jordan Area Community Council (JACC) in an email worded as follows...

The March meeting of the Jordan Area Community Council was held last night, March 9th. Upon the conclusion of that meeting, you had missed 5 board meetings within a 12 month period. Within the current bylaws, anyone missing 5 meetings throughout the year, excused or otherwise, automatically becomes vacant.

Johnny Northside Dot Com has its bloggy hands all over the Tynessia Snoddy criminal file. That would be the same Tynessia Snoddy who took a plea bargain a few days ago, as reported here on Johnny Northside Dot Com and nowhere else. Snoddy was up to her eyeballs in mortgage fraud and the file is full of names. Slumlord Keith Reitman. Lamont "Litterbug" Nelson. Bernard Holmes. And many new names that have never been published on the internet in association with these messy and fraudulent dealings. Robert and Dia Davis? Kimberly Golden and Joseph Collins?

They are not alleged to be victims, these last four. They are alleged to have aided.

Now we're digging into all the dirt and we'll be publishing it. Let the chips fall where they may.

Last Name's The Same But The Resemblance Stops There: Mark Stephenson (No Apparent Relation To Spanky Pete) Has Hearing Today For Domestic Assault...

As regular readers of this blog know, Level Three sex offender and "Rule 9" frivolous litigant Peter Rickmyer is cooling his heels in the hoosegow, and it likely has something to do with the contempt of court proceedings rolling forward against him for serving his pseudo-lawsuits against this blogger and this blog. But word keeps trickling my way about the BROTHER of Peter Rickmyer, reportedly one Mark Stephenson.

Somebody with the name "Mark Stephenson" had an "initial appearance" hearing for an assault charge today. The man has had MANY charges and I think it's fair to say there are worrisome patterns like allegations of providing liquor to a minor, and prostitution patron in a public place.

But is this the brother of Peter "Spanky Pete" Richard Stephenson? I don't think so.

Don't get me wrong. Folks who seem to know Peter Stephenson a/k/a Peter Rickmyer say he has a brother, and one individual insists the brother's name is "Mark." But--unless this is a truly spectacular case of a "brother by another mother"--I don't think this guy who had a hearing today is the same guy.

I note no family resemblance or mannerisms. Except for lots of legal trouble and some of the stuff is sexual in nature.

One could sit and write all day about the random human drama of "initial appearances" in Hennepin County Criminal Court. Today, trying to track down a story with an actual North Minneapolis connection, that's exactly what happened.

Last Of The Salmon House Troubles At 2700 Morgan Ave. N.--A Hole In The Street

The saga of 2700 Morgan Ave. N. has been extensively documented on this blog--how neighbors fought to get the combination crack house and whorehouse shut down. How it was repeatedly boarded, but denizens would rip off the boards and crawl inside. How the house sat for a long time, but finally it was torn down. How something valuable was saved from the house:

FRIDGE MAGNETS!

I should point out--to be completely fair--I've heard it said crack wasn't SOLD there, merely CONSUMED there. That the "crack house" label isn't, in that sense, fair. (Although the "whorehouse" label has never been seriously disputed)

Johnny Northside Blog stands by its use of "crack house" to describe a house where crack is routinely CONSUMED and, furthermore, whores turn tricks to buy crack.

In any case...

Just when it seems like the "Salmon House Saga" has come to an end, neighbors have a new problem...

The hole where utility connections were dug out has COLLAPSED, leaving a hazard in the street. The hole is about the size of the hood of an economy car. Look closely at the photo above and you will see a can of Dr. Pepper (my kid's favorite drink) that I placed in the hole for scale.

Today I called 311 on the issue, and I was connected to a sub-unit of Inspections. Inspections told me they'd have somebody out there "in the next two minutes." When I asked for a reference number, I was told, "We still use 3 x 5 cards here." They not only didn't have a reference number, they didn't have a COMPUTER.

I felt bad for asking. But I can't help but wonder why this important part of the city is so badly funded?

The following video is my little musical homage to the word "hole." This is Courtney Love--and the love is for "she loves free speech"--who recently settled rather than spend her life tied up in court, sued over some minor stuff Love said on Twitter.

To Courtney Love I say: that's how we're different. I will fight it out in court for years if necessary. Courtney, feel free to kick a little love toward my blog.

Enjoying The Spectacle Of A Union Rally In Front Of Hennepin County Government Center, March 15...

On March 16, I was leaving the Hennepin County Government Center after putting some work into the never-ending saga of Jerry Moore v. John Hoff, a/k/a Johnny Northside, a case which has caused national commentary. Most of the commentary is along these lines: Why should there be financial penalties for bloggers TELLING THE TRUTH? Even if the truth upsets people and has consequences?

In this case the truth was:

SPECIFIC AND REPEATED EVIDENCE IN HENNEPIN COUNTY DISTRICT COURT SHOWS JERRY MOORE WAS INVOLVED IN A HIGH PROFILE, FRAUDULENT MORTGAGE AT 1564 HILLSIDE AVE. N.

Walking out of the government building, I was thinking my own deep, intense, abstract thoughts about the topic of free speech when...

I suddenly found myself in the middle of a chanting crowd. They were yelling slogans like, "Union busting is DISGUSTING!" They had signs, banners, flyers, and one was even dressed like the Statue of Liberty. One after another, they stood at the microphone and expressed thoughts about the situation with public employee unions in Wisconsin, how it was troubling to them, and how there was no way they'd allow something similar to happen in Minnesota. Most of the people in the crowd were members of public unions, such as the folks who work right there at the Hennepin County Government Building. I recognized one or two faces.

In my own subjective reality, it was as though my own private thoughts--"Free speech! How can it be wrong to loudly tell the truth about a matter of public concern?"--had solidified, manifested, and become a chanting mob with signs, a crowd that highly valued its free speech rights. There are times when I ask God, I ask the universe if I am on the right track, if I am doing the right thing...

And then sometimes you get a sign. Or many signs, clutched by the hands of union members. And you know, you just know...there is a purpose to what happens in our lives, and everything will turn out the way it should.

Police Action At 26th And Knox In North Minneapolis: Suspected Drugs, Gun, And A Five-Year-Old Boy Named "Tre" Along For The Ride...

It happened about 9 PM on Sunday, March 13. Attracted to strobing police lights like a moth to flame, I got out of the vehicle I was riding in and walked over with my cheap little pawnshop camera. The camera (as is becoming increasingly apparent to me) has lousy audio abilities.

On 26th Ave. N., between Knox and Logan, very near the Jordan Community Garden, the police had two suspects in custody; black males between 18 and 25. They were driving a red, four-door Buick. Based on my analysis of still pics shot at the scene, the license plate appears to be 548 DXE. (The photo above is not the only photo I took of the plate, but figuring out the plate number was a bit of a puzzle) This blog does not yet have the resources or capacity to "run the plate" and is in the midst of a legal attack which is trying to shut down this blog. Very early in the video I was told to back up, the police were dealing with suspects who had a gun. A search of the suspects was not yet completed at that point and the suspects were not yet handcuffed. I did exactly as told by the police and backed up a bit.

The suspect who is closer to where I positioned myself and my camera had something in his sock. He tried to make a verbal claim that it was "bunk" dope, not...

...the good stuff or the bad stuff, depending on your perspective. In the midst of this madness, police led out a five-year-old boy named "Tre." (Tre told the officers his age, it is assumed Tre told the truth)

The suspect closest to the camera made efforts to provide a phone number to the police, apparently trying to make sure Tre's mother got word her son had fallen into police custody because she'd made the mistake of leaving him in the keeping of two no-account dirt bags.

At no time did I witness any of the suspects resist the police, nor did I see the police do anything to brutalize or humiliate the suspects. Indeed, the officer was quite kind about making sure the suspect got his shoe back on in the cold, slushy street, after the officer found the alleged drugs hidden in the sock.

Unknown if the car was towed, I didn't stick around. I assume it was.

By analyzing the jailhouse roster for March 13 after 9 PM, it is possible to figure out who these suspects MIGHT be but I am unable to confirm who they actually are.
