Fear And Loathing At City Hall, An Abandoned Fiberglass Bathtub In An Alley And More Body Cameras Than You Can Shake A Stick At...Welcome To The June, 2015 Meeting Of PCOC!

Since this photo was published on a blog operated by the
City of Minneapolis, click here for link, I assert this photo
is a public document in the public domain, but in any case
it would also be used under Fair Comment and Criticism,

No Justice, No Peacock

Nobody I know says "peacock" for PCOC, the Police Conduct Oversight Commission of the Minneapolis Department of Civil Rights. Which is a shame, because a peacock comes in many colors but has a beautiful unified symmetry...kind of like the PCOC. The citizens on this commission know how serious, how hotly political their task is (their narrow, oh-so-ordinance-limited and strictly defined police conduct oversight task) and I think the PCOC handles it pretty well, considering every meeting features a room full of shrill critics and dubious doubters with an axe to grind against anything in a blue shirt...

Warmed Over Vietnam Era Draft Dodging Felon Chuck Turchick Used The First Minute Of His Two Minutes Complaining About The Fact He Only Had Two Minutes, And Other Nuggets From The Police Conduct Oversight Commission As JNS Blog Talks Back To Star Tribune Reporter Matt McKinney...

Contributed image, blog post by John Hoff

Click here for the STrib article I am about to disassemble and try to put back together CORRECTLY.

SOMETIMES Star Tribune Matt McKinney writes a halfway decent article, especially when the article has a co-author.

But McKinney has a noticeable tendency to be off-kilter, like the time when sex offender Peter "Spanky Pete" Rickmyer was trying to have a frivolous lawsuit served in city council chambers and all McKinney could concentrate upon was the fact Johnny Northside (moi!) had allegedly been aided in slipping out of city council chambers.

McKinney had little or nothing to write about the fact Pete The Pervert has managed, over the years, to waste hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of legal resources by serving legal worthless paper and, gee, how come the Star Tribune hasn't managed to uncover the fact Peter Rickmyer is WANTED ON A WARRANT OUT OF OKLAHOMA AND HAS BEEN SINCE THE EARLY 1990s? (More to follow on JNS blog in coming days since you can't really expect that story from McKinney of the Star Tribune)

And this, I have recently figured out, is the problem with Matt McKinney. Somewhere deep inside McKinney is a very alienated person, and therefore he tends to give too much ink and too much credibility to social malcontents, worthless troublemakers, psychopathic outsiders and (in at least one notable instance) a sex offender pervert than to (for lack of a better way of putting it) normal people.

Productive people.

Good citizens.

People who are on the Police Conduct Oversight Commission instead of venting their hot green bile from somewhere off stage left, because they opposed the whole Commission in the first place and naturally have nothing good to say about the Commission's progress. People like Chuck Turchick and Dave Bicking who, respectively, 1.) has had a bone to pick with American society since being imprisoned for trying to destroy draft records and 2.) unsuccessfully sued the former head of a police review committee and lost more than $5,000 dollars in the process.

So what does Star Tribune reporter Matt "Off Kilter" McKinney do? Well, he...

"Rabid Anti-Police Critic" Chuck Turchick Responds To JNS Blog, Says He's Contemplating Pardoning The US Government For What They Did To Him Over Vietnam Era Draft Office Incident...

Stock photo, (Camp Shelby, MS) blog post by John Hoff

Charles "Chuck" Turchick responded by email to my October 23 blog post about him, which discussed his felony conviction for breaking into a draft office in Alexandria, Minnesota and speculated (not without firm basis) that Chuck's criminal conviction and incarceration over that early 1970s incident is why he's so...

Well, so Chuck Turchick.

Chuck didn't ask for the email to remain private and, though he didn't ask, appears to have intended it for publication. So I am printing his entire email, below, fair and square. Along the way I will respond to Chuck's written assertions to prevent his unique and hippy-esque form of self-delusion from further propagating itself into the blogosphere without correction...

The Day The Crazy Parade Came To An End, PART TWO, Focusing On The Role Of Former Draft Office Raider Charles "Chuck" Larry Turchick...

Photo, blog post by John Hoff blogging from Alexandria, MN

By virtue of the fact he goes by "Chuck Turchick" and not "Charles Larry Turchick," a lot of people don't know the very interesting back story behind activist Chuck Turchick and his 1970 conviction for breaking into the local draft offices in Alexandria, Minnesota.  Google searches for "Chuck Turchick" tend to bring up his activism around police conduct issues and his writings for the Twin Cities Daily Planet. But search "Charles Turchick" and you will quickly find out the guy is practically FAMOUS as an anti-war activist in the early 1970s.

To get right to the heart of my online information goodies regarding this fascinating history, click here for the appeals court ruling and here for an extensive retelling of the story of the "Minnesota 8."

This is Chuck Turchick. This is where he's coming from. This is why he gets so worked up about abuses of police authority; because some unknown informant in his own organization sold him up the river in the early 1970s for breaking into a draft office. I haven't uncovered anything online to show the identity of this informant has ever been definitely revealed or discovered. (There was speculation it was a guy named Ulen, who helped break into the Alexandria office with Turchick but took a plea deal rather than go to prison)

Old Hippies Never Die, They Just Go Bald

Most recently, former hippy Turchick was part of the "parade of crazies" loudly opposed to the oh-so-necessary overhaul of the Civilian Review Authority, click here for Part One. And though it may seem I have a critical tone toward Turchick by writing about these pertinent historical facts, I would like to start out by stating...

The Day The Crazy Parade Ended, A Disturbingly Detailed Account Of What Really Transpired In City Council Chambers When CRA Overhaul Passed (Part One Of Two)

Creative stock photo, blog post by John Hoff

On September 21, the City Council passed a massive overhaul of the city's system for reviewing alleged police misconduct, as numerous mainstream media (including Channel 5, embedded above, reported in detail.

(ADDENDUM, NOVEMBER 3, STUPID VIDEO EMBED ISN'T WORKING AND IS BEING REPLACED WITH STOCK PHOTO. Channel 5, watch and see if I ever embed another of your videos)

I'm here to tell you the colorful, boots-on-the-ground reality they didn't report, such as:

How Level Three Sex Offender Peter "Spanky Pete" Rickmyer took it upon himself to be a little city council gopher and distribute copies of Cam Gordon's proposed amendments...why the crazy Mpls Mirror lady wrote so critically about Channel 5 reporter Kate Renner...(OK, that's not hard to figure out, actually)...and some interesting background on rabid police critic Chuck Turchick, who was involved in breaking into a draft office in Alexandria, Minnesota in July of 1970.

It's going to be a wild ride.

Well, for a blog post about talking heads at a meeting, I mean.

Here we go...
