JNS Blog Will Not Resist Subpoena For Emails That May Be Evidence In Shooting Incident...

Contributed stock photo, blog post by John Hoff

As this blogger demonstrated in the Moore v. Hoff "Blogosphere Trial of the Century," I will use every means at my disposal to resist giving up my sources. I would even consider going to jail to avoid giving up a source.

Slumlord Bashir Moghul Suffers, Yet Again, In A Micro-Slum Of His Own Creation...

Stock photo, the property depicted is NOT owned
by Bashir Moghul, though so many of his properties
are ALSO crap, blog post by John Hoff

It's probably bad for my soul that I was cheered by the following Facebook message:

----------
Hey John, Guess who got robbed (again) a couple of weeks ago in front of his tenement on 21st and Broadway? Bashir Mogul
I don't have access to the specifics but everyone at the Jordan Safety Committee thought it was pretty funny. Might be a good article outlining the hazards of dealing with felons.
--------
This isn't even the FIRST time slumlord Bashir Moghul has suffered in a micro-slum of his own creation. Remember when he was wounded by gunfire? Click here.

Yes, it's terrible that another robbery happened in North Minneapolis. But more terrible still is the fact so many people believe Bashir Moghul deserves whatever he gets. I hope the robber had a good time with the money and bought some new venetian blinds.

Last Member Of The Andrews Sisters Dies, They Were Raised In North Minneapolis...

Video embed from YouTube, blog post by John Hoff

I didn't know until today the Andrews Sisters were from North Minneapolis. They were responsible for such songs as Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy Of Company B.

Patty Andrews, the last survivor of the group, died today at the age of 94.

I would love to know what specific North Minneapolis addresses were associated with the Andrews sisters and their family, so if anybody knows please comment.

In regard to "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," it is...

JNS BLOG EDITORIAL: Spanky Pete, Clean Up Your Hygeine!

DOC mug shot therefore public domain, blog post by John Hoff

First of all, an apology.

Oh, not an apology to Spanky Pete, of course, for writing this editorial or for anything else including the time he did in prison after trying to serve paper on this blog. I wanted to let readers know a key piece of my previous blog post got left out by mistake. For those of you wondering "Where was the part about Spanky Pete's body odor," here it is...

Tom Evenstad Comments On Spanky Pete's Body Odor, And Other Topics...

Photo contributed by Tom Evenstad, blog post by John Hoff

Tom Evenstad, who can be fairly and accurately described as "convicted of being the Chat Line Rapist, yet never wavering in his assertions of innocence," recently sent me a series of emails.

I've already written about the "basis of our sick relationship" (click here) and how (incredible as it may sound) I periodically exchange emails with Tom Evenstad.

Yes, the very same Tom Evenstad who has published threats on his blog to sue me, who called up my lawyer Paul Godfread and hinted he would sue me, who once worked for Jill Clark as a beltless paralegal beta male, and who appears to spend a great deal of his life going to little committees about the topic of sex offenders, regarding which he knows a great deal.

Yes, THAT Tom Evenstad...

"Johnny Northside Dot Com" Domain Name Renewed For Next Four Years, WOOOOOOO!!!!

Photo, blog post by John Hoff

As regular and longtime readers know, this blog uses the domain name "Johnny Northside Dot Com" which is a "feeder" to my actual Blogspot address, http://adventuresofjohnnynorthside.blogspot.com/

I'm not exactly a technical geek, though I do catch on when somebody patiently walks me through and shows me stuff. So I had a friend set up the domain name ages ago because I didn't know how to do that kind of thing. So when the domain name needs renewal I call up my friend and I'm all, like, dude!!!! Can you take care of this?

And dude takes care of it.

But recently I couldn't get ahold of my dude, and the renewal notice came to my email saying my domain name would expire on 4/20/2013...

Alleged Child Molester Known As "The Chapo" Reportedly Did His Thing On Garage Rooftop, After Watching Fourth Of July Fireworks...

Stock photo, blog post by John Hoff

Normally, when I write about criminal complaints, I use the word "allegedly" with an invisible eye roll. Often the evidence of criminal wrongdoing is overwhelming and saying "allegedly" is more an act of ritual than a statement of substance.

But in this case, THIS PARTICULARLY HORRIBLE CASE, I want to emphasize there is no confession and there is no physical evidence that a guy known as "The Chapo" molested a 12-year-old girl while on the rooftop of a garage watching fireworks on the Fourth of July.

The alleged incident took place at 3618 Girard Ave. N., which is a...

Turd Burglar Update, Part One, Victim Impact Statement...

Photo, blog post by John Hoff

It's time for a little update on the suspects in the Thanksgiving Day "turd burlgary" on the 1600 block of Hillside Ave. N.

Some weeks ago, I obtained a copy of the victim impact statement but I held off publishing it for a little while. Even though I'm obviously very hard on these turd burglars, I thought to myself, well, they are JUVENILES after all. Let the system deal with them.

Then I found out some of them haven't made hearings. I will discuss this more in Part Two.

But because some of them missed hearings, it's time to write more. Here is the victim impact statement over this incident, word-for-word...

Hennepin County Jail Roster, December 24, 2012 To January 21, 2013...

Creative stock photo, blog post by John Hoff

Pictured above, Door Number 6 at the Grayhound Bus Station in Chicago, Illinois, where passengers board buses for Minneapolis. Need I say more?

Here's this month's Hennepin County Jail Roster. Keep in mind, all suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law but they fact they were in jail, and what address was REPORTED as their home or place of residence is a matter of public record. This public record is not, however, preserved unless I capture it like a snapshot in time.

Oh, yes, some online services capture the fact somebody was ARRESTED. They claim to have a mug shot, but often if you search it says PICTURE NOT AVAILABLE. Far too often, I might add. It's pretty lame, actually. I am just saying.

But what the JNS blog jail roster preserves (unlike any other online service) includes the ALLEGED HOME OF RECORD. And, oh yes, that information is valuable to SOMEBODY.

So without further adieu, I present to you...

In April Of 2011, There Were 21 Level Three Sex Offenders In The 55411 Zip Code, So Guess How Many There Are NOW?

DOC mugshot, therefore public domain, blog post by John Hoff

The correct answer is THIRTY-ONE.

Though there isn't a little year-by-year bar graph showing the increase or (mostly theoretical) decrease of Level Three Sex Offenders in the 55411 zip code, one of my blog posts provides a little time capsule of a moment on April 11, 2011, when I was complaining about the presence of 21 sex offenders in the 55411 zip code...

Criminal Complaint Provides Ugly Details About Murder At 2311 Queen Ave. N.

Stock photo, Camp Shelby, MS on way to Afghanistan,
blog post by John Hoff

According to a criminal complaint against Honora Tremaine Patterson, click here, Patterson was a "daily visitor" at 2311 Queen Ave. N., where he visited Lolitta M. Malone.

It was Malone's housemate and former boyfriend, Henry Love, who discovered the victim stabbed to death and covered in gasoline. Henry had come downstairs to light a cigarette.

Good thing Henry waited before lighting that cigarette.

A red plastic gas container with some gas still in it was near the body...

Desmond Deshaw Carthron Accused Of Banging A Woman's Head Against A Bed, Over And Over, He Reportedly Lives At A Property Owned By Slumlord Paul Bertelson...

Creative stock photo, FOB Gardez, Afghanistan, blog post
by John Hoff

When the woman whose initials are A.C.O. went to her doctor, the doctor called police. The woman's finger was broken when her boyfriend Desmond Carthron got drunk (which he reportedly does all the time) and accused the woman of infidelity. He bashed her head against the bed five to ten times, allegedly. The woman lost count.

The next day, the woman cried and tried to reason with Carthron. He didn't like it. So he bashed her head against the bed numerous times.

This bed bashing is apparently his "thing." Click here for criminal complaint.

Carthron has been convicted of domestic violence against, and I quote...

Police Were Called About A Person With A Gun, And The Person Was Thomas Lewis Bell, Allegedly...

Creative stock photo, blog post by John Hoff

In early August of last year, police were called about a man with a gun who was hanging around at 4th Street and 2nd Avenue. When police showed, the man (later identified as Thomas Lewis Bell) tried to walk away and ditch the gun in a bush. Police recovered the weapon, however, a .357 magnum revolver.

Click here for the criminal complaint. Click here for previous "jail roster nuggets" coverage of Thomas Bell's arrest.

It is unknown where Thomas Bell lives because (according to the jail roster) he refused to give an address.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's how I look at the issue of somebody refusing to give their address when booked into the jail. That's just a cry for attention from the blogosphere. And, of course, I already mentioned him in "jail house roster nuggets."

Well, now I have the criminal complaint in my hands. So Thomas (so desperate for attention) gets a little mention AGAIN.

And all because he refused to give his address to jail personnel.

Also, here is a link to a paper written by a graduate student in 2009.

The paper concerns the same topic as the White House petition linked above. Food banks and soup kitchens need the credibility of the federal government to "leverage" more donations, which means the federal government, itself, publicizing the Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donations Law.

Murmurs In The Jordan Neighborhood About JACC Executive Director Cathy Spann Contemplating Run For Fifth Ward Council Seat...

Mayor Rybak, blog post by John Hoff

Not very long at all after I'd pressed the PUBLISH button on a blog post about the five possible city council candidates in Ward 5, I heard from one upset resident of the Jordan Neighborhood.

Why, this resident wanted to know, was Cathy Spann talking about running? She's only just been hired recently to run JACC as Executive Director, and being the "ED" requires a lot of time, energy, and focus. This is (the resident felt) inconsistent with running for city council.

Furthermore...

Criminal Complaint Reveals Details About "Brand New Year Murder" At 2907 Russell Ave. N.

Creative stock photo, souvenir shops of Bagram Air Force Base,
Afghanistan, blog post by John Hoff

Details about what happened, allegedly, in the first murder of 2013 have now been revealed in a criminal complaint, click here for copy.

According to prosecutors, Minneapolis police were called to 2907 Russell Ave. N. a little after 3 o'clock in the morning in response to a stabbing. They found the victim (not named in the complaint but known to be Ever R. Gonzales-Canales) "in a back room of the residence off the kitchen." The victim had what the complaint dryly calls "obvious stabbing injuries" and was unresponsive...

Domestic Violence Victim Wasn't Even Sure How Many Times She Was Hit In The Face By Pierre Gardner, And Dragged Up The Stairs, Allegedly...

Creative stock photo, blog post by John Hoff

New Year's Day, one hour and 41 minutes after midnight, Brooklyn Center police were dispatched to an "open" 911 call. That's when somebody calls 911, but the dispatcher can't get any information. The line is open but nobody is speaking.

This type of call carries great uncertainty for police. There could be a victim bleeding to death, unable to speak, wounded by an armed gunman who is still in the house. Or it's a child who thinks calling 911 is exciting. Or something in between.

At the residence where the call originated, police were met by a female running down the driveway bleeding profusely from the face...

Daron Bolden died in the backyard of a residence where the poet Bryan Thao Worra (on the right) once resided, see previous blog article.

There is no other connection between the two men, except that Worra was once the winner of a meat raffle and Bolden lost the biggest meat raffle of them all.

A day or two ago, the prosecutor's office announced a conviction in the murder of Daron Bolden and WCCO picked up the story. The circumstances described in the criminal complaint (click here) show just how truly random this murder was...

Incredible Details About North Minneapolis Gang War Revealed In Criminal Complaint Against Patrick Carl Timberlake, Age 16...

Creative stock photo, a little light reading at FOB Gardez, Afghanistan,
blog post by John Hoff

The Minnesota Court of Appeals recently ruled that "P.C.T.," a 16-year-old gang member, should be tried as an adult for a series of drive by shootings that left two people injured. The criminal complaint, available for the first time on JNS blog (click here for your own copy) involves a war between gangs known as the Taliban, YNT, Stick Up Boys and Skitz Squad.

The murder of Juwan Osborne (known as "Skitz") and the retaliatory house shooting that left 5-year-old Nizzel George dead were part of that gang war, as outlined in a Star Tribune article, click here.

The ruling by the State Court of Appeals strongly reversed a Hennepin County District Court ruling which determined Patrick Timberlake should NOT be tried as an adult. Word from a reliable source says this ruling is being appealed, presumably to the Minnesota State Supreme Court. But in the meantime, the criminal complaint became public and I obtained a copy. Both the complaint and the State Appeals Court ruling are full of details both informative and horrible about the North Minneapolis gang war which is littering our streets with dead.

I may follow up later and pull out these details. In the meantime, I would urge readers to check out both the criminal complaint and the court ruling.

Tom Evenstad, convicted of being the "chat line rapist" years ago, his conviction upheld by court appeals (yet never faltering in his protestations of innocence) has filed a lawsuit against the Minnesota Sex Offender Program, as this blog previously reported.

Evenstad is in email contact with this blogger though the tone of our conversation is not always friendly. All the same, no other media entity seems interested in Evenstad's lawsuit and Evensted seems determined to disseminate information about his lawsuit. And that's what I do, after all, I obtain interesting facts and publish those facts.

Mpls Mirror Denounces Former Friends And/Or Allies, Disappears Into A Dark Hole Of Its Own Self-Created Loony Misery...

Photo by John Hoff, Al Flowers and the Mpls Mirror Lady, blog post by John Hoff

Normally, I ignore the Mpls Mirror, which is Terry Yzaguirre's attempt at blogging gloriously free of the conventional constraints of proper spelling, grammar and punctuation.

Yes, I'm quite aware the Mirror doesn't like me very much, and the feeling is mutual. So I don't comment on The Cracked Mirror or mention The Cracked Mirror except, for example, when writing about criminal charges leveled against Terry's children or the crazy lawsuits the Yzaguirre family has filed in the court with the help of troubled attorney Jill Clark.

(Want to file a CRAZY lawsuit? Get a CRAZY lawyer. Wouldn't that make a great advertisement on the back of a phonebook?)

But every now and then I do check the Mpls Mirror because, who knows? Maybe a stray nugget of info will turn up about Jill Clark and it will prove to be a lead to information when I write Part Fifty-Six Or Whatever It Is of The Madness of Jill Clark.

So at about 2 in the morning, I checked the Mirror. The latest article on the Mirror referred me to Terry's other blog, Unconventional Grandma.

Wow. Turns out I am still capable of being surprised by that category of people some of us just refer to as "The Crazies"...

Gregory Anthony Burg, DOB 3/30/54, is accused of smoking crack in the bathroom of Cub Foods at 701 West Broadway. Antenese Baker Wore "Wire Girdle" To Facilitate Shoplifting, Allegedly...

Creative stock photo, flowers in Kyrgyzstan, blog post by John Hoff

Antenese S. Baker, DOB 9/26/93, was arrested on a shoplifting charge back in April. But she was in jail recently, picked up on a bench warrant.

Actually, at the time she was picked up Baker had SEVEN BENCH WARRANTS, which is the most I've ever seen on the jail roster. The warrants were from Bloomington, Edina, Champlin, and Minneapolis. The warrants were for charges of theft, possession of burglary tools, receiving stolen property, some traffic charges, and giving a police officer a false name. In addition, two counties (Pine and Washington) wanted this woman for felony charges.

I guess Washington County won the wrestling match. Yesterday, Baker was "released to other authority" and it appears she went to Washington County.

According to the only criminal complaint against Baker that I could turn up in Hennepin County, click here, four women were acting suspiciously at the Eden Prairie Walmart because they placed 12 to 15 video games in a shopping cart and covered the games with clothing. They were also observed breaking security devices on two T-Mobile cell phones. The women concealed items and walked out of the store without attempting to pay. At least one loss prevention officer followed the women to the car and told them to return to the store. Instead...
