Serious Police Action At Pair Of Dice Pizza Thursday Night...

Photo and blog post by John Hoff

On Thursday something was definitely amiss at Pair Of Dice Pizza, one of my favorite North Minneapolis businesses whose product is enjoyed very much by my son, click here.

At about 9:30 PM, at least four squad cars were observed to descend on Pair of Dice Pizza, two of these squads were seen moving especially fast down 26th Avenue N. At Pair of Dice, a handful of police were talking to employees and...

...following this little talk, two of the squads made haste to comb the streets near Pair of Dice with searchlights. It seemed likely Pair of Dice had been robbed, but JNS blog did not seek out further info since--unforunately--these crimes are much too common and just snapping a low quality picture through the windshield seemed plenty for blogging purposes. However, I would suggest Northside residents who support Pair of Dice should go there and give them a little more support this week, to make up for whatever happened.

Pair of Dice Pizza Is NOT Leaving NoMi...

Photo and blog post by John Hoff

Several days ago, a frightening rumor shot through North Minneapolis, aided by the Upper Willard Homewood (UWHO) listserv: Pair of Dice Pizza was getting set to close its doors. The rumor turned out to be baseless. In fact, there is...

...a shuffle happening with building ownership, leasing arrangements, or some junk like that. But from the customer's point of view, NOTHING is happening to Pair of Dice Pizza.

Pictured above is my son Alex with pizza from Pair of Dice. Color him RELIEVED.

Not "Paradise" Pizza, But PAIR OF DICE... (Summer Visitation 2009)

In the Hawthorne Neighborhood, we tend to buy our pizza at Little Caesar's at Hawthorn (sic) Crossings strip mall, where you watch for your lunch with one eye and keep the other eye in the parking lot, where drug dealing takes place constantly. But in the Jordan Neighborhood, they swear by "Pair of Dice" Pizza.

The other day...

...me and a friend went to pick up pizza to eat with my son back at her place. She told me the little building where "Pair of Dice" is located used to be a "Rib King."

When we got back to her house, I told my son the pizza was from "Pair of Dice."

"Paradise?" he asked.

"No," we told him. "Not Paradise. PAIR OF DICE."

The first thing I noticed about their pizza was its imperfect shape. You know pizza is good when it's not perfectly circular, but has the irregular contours of deliciousness.
