One week ago, I had word that Tom Evenstad, the "chatline rapist" now charged with new and shocking crimes, was NOT being held in Regions Hospital. At least one informed source I spoke to was under the impression Evenstad was no longer committed and would be returning to the Ramsey County Jail.

The information Evenstad was no longer at Regions was good. But it turns out that fact did NOT actually end the mental commitment.

Despite a mental commitment proceeding that could have put Thomas Evenstad under the observation of health care professionals for as long as six months, click here for previous article, today JNS blog learned from a reliable source of information that Evenstad has been released from the secure facility at Regions Hospital and he's back in jail.
