"Moore v. Hoff" Legal Precedent Mentioned In Connection With Controversy Over Former Vikings Punter Kris Kluwe, Allegedly Fired From The Minnesota Vikings Over Gay Marriage Controversy...

Readers and people who know me realize I don't follow professional sports at all; the only time sports register on my radar would be in connection to something important; taxes to build a new stadium, or an interesting controversy involving yet another sports figure involved in dog fighting, violent crime, or illegal drugs. Yes, I am capable of pontificating at length about the nuances of power shifts in North Korea or war in South Sudan, but I don't know year-to-year who is in the Super Bowl or in which month it is played.

So I was quite surprised to learn my name had come up in connection with a hot new controversy over former Vikings punter Kris Kluwe, allegedly fired for his outspoken public position on gay marriage. Click here to Read Kluwe's first person account, which is the source of all the controversy.

Kluwe's narrative is replicated on a local blog called Developers Are Crabgrass, one of the smartest and most intellectually elevated blogs around. The "DAC" blog discusses (way down at the bottom, below Kluwe's remarks) how the Moore v. Hoff case is highly relevant to any litigation which could spin out of this situation. It would appear Kluwe is vowing, in a very public way, to have an impact on his former employer's future employment prospects by airing suspicions that he (Kluwe) was fired for his public remarks on gay marriage.

The "DAC" blog closely followed my Blogosphere Trial of The Century in detail; that would be the trial I was subjected to when...

$60,000 Judgment In Blogospere Trial Of The Century Vacated, This Is What Victory Tastes Like...

Photo, blog post by John Hoff

Months ago, when the Minnesota State Court of Appeals overturned the $60,000 judgment against this blog in Moore v. Hoff, one of my family members threw an impromptu victory party with a jar of caviar and some sparkling apple cider. And though the Court of Appeals made its ruling last summer, the actual and formal administrative action of overturning of the judgment took a little while and happened only yesterday.

So, in a sense, I am $60,000 richer.

It's not entirely clear to me why...

Jerry Moore Owes $3,799.69 After Blogosphere Trial Of The Century, Yes, I Will Be Happy To Take A Check...

Photo taken with my camera by unknown guest at party where I was served with Jerry Moore's lawsuit, blog post by John Hoff

I received word from my attorney today that Jerry Moore, who unsuccessfully sued this blogger in Moore v. Hoff for supposedly defaming him, now owes this blogger almost four grand in costs. Here is a copy of the judgment, which was just emailed to me today, click here.

Trying to collect this money will prove INTERESTING to say the least. But it will certainly give me something to blog about.

It should be added....

North News, Mortgage Fraud, And Free Speech...

They can exercise free speech anytime they want, who will stop them?

Post and photo by Nomi Passenger

Yesterday and today, the April edition of North News hit every door step in north Minneapolis. There are few print newspapers that I look forward to reading, but North News is probably at the top of my list; mostly because the majority of the content isn't available anywhere else except in their monthly printed edition. This seems to be a good strategy for them. They have found a way to stay competitive with the internet. Put out a good publication with good content and photos, make it highly relevant to your audience's daily life, have the bulk of it available only in printed form, and deliver it to every house in your target area. But put some teasers out on your website.

This month, North News editors have boldly exercised their freedom of speech on the hot freedom of speech issues that are flaming up in our community and in dialogues across the country. From Westboro Baptist Church and Fred Phelps to mortgage fraudsters and Johnny Northside. Courtney Love Twitter rants about clothes designers and criticizing political candidates have recently been topics of the free speech discussions and testing the laws.

I still remark in amazement at how the inconsistent verdict that was meant to punish the Johnny Northside blog is resulting in much more publicity, attention and discussion about free speech, truth, mortgage fraud, and the constitution. Think about it: how many more community members are wondering out loud or to themselves "Well, what DID Jerry Moore get paid $5,000 for inside the 1564 fraudulent deal?" Or perhaps, "Is that the only fraudulent deal that Jerry Moore got a piece of the proceeds?" Or perhaps, "How much mortgage fraud took place in our northside neighborhoods causing a spiral of foreclosures that sucked in innocent homeowners and contributed to the demise of the entire country's economic stability?"

The verdict may have been a blessing in disguise. That's my opinion.

You can find the interesting North News editorial on your door step or here, if you don't live in Nomi.
