A regular reader of JNS blog, known to me and a credible person, reports s/he was listening to his/her police scanner within the last hour and heard Engine 14 was just dispatched to 1815 Hillside Ave. North. This troubled property and Proton's ownership of it have been written about previously on this blog, click here.

The image above shows some Proton Investments people about to board a "foreclosure tour bus." Much is being said and written behind the scenes right now about Proton. These incredible things will come to light in good time.

A previous story covered a lot of ground about Proton Investments Incorporated, but there is so much more ground to cover as information pours into my email from sources in the neighborhood who have been upset with Proton for years.

Neighbors have been doing their own digging, compiling, even MEETING about this vile and problematic business entity causing endless problems on the Northside. My blog is simply promulgating relevant information, some of it in raw form, rather than digging it up or creating it.

I promised in my previous story to commit a "data dump" of one extensive document I linked, so Googlebots could chew up the info and feed it into search engines. That document is an attempt by one unnamed neighborhood resident to draw connections between Proton and other individuals and entities; linking by, for example, common street addresses.

On June 9, police responded to a report of a man with a gun at 301 24th Ave. N., a property owned by Proton Investments, Inc. Their less-than-stellar property management is a recurring theme here at Johnny Northside Dot Com.

According to the criminal complaint, Derek Burgess (who also goes by Derek Angelo Cobbin) came walking out of the residence when his seven months pregnant baby mama arrived with her own mother and sister. The pregnant woman had just been to the doctor. Derek walked up to the three women, pointed a gun at them, and announced, "I'm going to shoot a motherf***er today."

JNS blog notes: The photos depicted in a previous version of this blog post were not loading in some browsers, a technical matter caused by a non-standard way I loaded the photos into the blog post by copying and pasting an entire email. So I have reproduced the blog post, (with no stock photo at the top, just one of the contributed photos) and I will be putting the comments at the end. 

Thanks to readers for alerting me to this technical issue and take a good look at the pictures of this jacked up Proton Investments, Inc. property, I worked hard to bring them to you. 

A trend of public outcry against jacked up buildings appears to be taking place lately in North Minneapolis, with participants in the North Talk Facebook page publishing photos of property gripes as small as, for example, an old tire being used as a barrier around a rose bush. Increasingly less afraid of threats or retaliation, residents are making these complaints openly and in their own names.

This is a very notable trend that bodes well for the continuing turnaround of North Minneapolis, long though the struggle may be ahead of us. Recently, one resident went so far as to forward her complaints to this blog as a kind of "more effective recourse" than 311.

Davina Rulford, 22, stands accused of assaulting a 57-year-old man with Parkinson's disease. The man tells one story and the convicted prostitute tells another about what they were doing in an alley. Truth may be somewhere in the middle but the dude has a concussion. He says it's from A BRICK and she says he "tripped over his own cane" while running away. The prosecutor is charging the incident based on his version of events, at least as far as the "brick applied firmly to the head" allegation is concerned.

The incident happened near a nasty little SuperAmerica store on the Lexington Parkway near I-94. I used to live in the area and, unfortunately, I know the gas station well. It's an embarrassment to the SuperAmerica chain, if you ask me. I have called the SuperAmerica chain on at least one occasion and told them so.

Steven Michael Gordon, DOB 5/29/82, was recently arrested on three domestic assault charges and failure to register as a predatory offender. He was formally charged for one of the domestic assaults, but the roster says "36 hours, expired" in regard to the "state of the charge" for (allegedly) failing to register as a predatory offender...


Like, what's up with THAT? He's sitting there in custody (as I write this) but because nobody charged him within 36 hours, he won't be charged? I say let the man go briefly and rearrest him in the freaking lobby of the jail, THEN charge him.

This man has an EXTENSIVE criminal record. Here it is, showing only charges and not the result of all the charges, some of which may have not resulted in convictions.

In regard to the charge of "Criminal Sex Conduct-3rd Degree-Victim 13-15 Actor greater than 24 months older," Gordon was found guilty. This happened in Goodhue County, and he was sentenced to prison for 18 months, credit for 157 days served. The sentencing took place in 2006.

Yeah, I'd say he's a predatory offender. And he should be required to register.

As for the address where Gordon reportedly lives, 1815 Hillside Ave. N., is owned by Proton Investments, a name that came up recently on another problem property.

Oh, also, isn't it funny how a sex offender who did his dirty deeds in Goodhue County somehow ends up in the 55411 zip code?

Kemen Lavatos Taylor, whose address appears as 2223 6th St. N. on the Hennepin County Jail Roster, remains in custody on three weapons charges. In light of the still unsolved shooting of Terrell Mayes, Jr. and the "riddling by bullets" of a house in the same area a short time later, it's very interesting to find such an (alleged) gun enthusiast living in the same area. However, North Minneapolis is full of weaponry and there's no point getting TOO excited over this arrest.

There appear to be two identical charges of possessing a "pistol or assault weapon" and one charge of possessing a "machine gun or sawed off shotgun." Here is the unedited info off the jailhouse roster...

Taylor was arrested March 20 but still remains in custody.

Taylor's criminal record shows a fifth degree possession of a controlled substance charge, for which he was found guilty and got three years probation, plus credit for 33 days served. He also pled guilty to escape from custody and (if I read the data correctly) was sentenced to a year in the St. Cloud correctional facility with credit for 8 days served.

As of today, Taylor still owes the court $156 on that last charge.

Taylor has also pled guilty to taking movable property without consent. He was sentenced to time served, which was 60 days.

He also failed to obey a stop sign, pleaded not guilty, and was fined $150. However, in light of the fact he'd served 4 days in jail, the fine was suspended.

The house at 2223 6th St. N. is owned by Proton Investments, Inc. The proof Taylor resides there is only the jailhouse roster, which is not 100 percent reliable.

No name is listed for the taxpayer on the house, merely an address: 5353 Wayata (sic) Blvd. #201, Minneapolis, MN 55416. As of 6/13/2011, the rental license was in review.

And now my editorial comments in this situation:

Authorities have talked a lot about getting the guns off the streets of North Minneapolis. So if Taylor is found guilty...

Taylor should go away for a long time.

On another note...

This particular blog post is the first of (I hope) many more, in which I dig deeply into the data contained in the Hennepin County Jailhouse Roster, looking for incidents relevant to North Minneapolis.

Yes, I will still be printing the roster verbatim, but now I plan to add "additional value" to my postings of the unedited roster.
