Houston, He Has A Problem...Houston Oliver, That Is, Accused Of Possessing Enough Cocaine To Put Scarface On The Moon

Fox 9 is reporting on a cocaine bust involving a resident of South Minneapolis, click here for article, but my sources and research say accused cocaine trafficker Houston Oliver is, in fact, a resident of North Minneapolis. 

As reported by Fox 9, Oliver allegedly mailed 11 kilos of cocaine from Arizona to Minneapolis...

Inside The Renovation Of Butter Roll Bakery...

A couple weeks ago I was inside the old Butter Roll Bakery to check out the renovation efforts spearheaded by Charmaine Wahlstrom and her husband.

But before I could even write about what's happening at the Butter Roll Bakery, two buildings went down, (click here and here) a big neon sign went up on the 4th Street Salon, (click here) and generally the trend of the march of history continued to move decisively in the direction of West Broadway getting nicer. I left my little Butter Roll story aside but, luckily, nobody else is writing about the renovation so it's not like the story got stale...

Northside Revitalization Progress At The Old Butter Roll Bakery...

The old Butter Roll Bakery on West Broadway, which was purchased recently by Charmaine Wahlstrom, saw some exterior brickwork done around November 16 as documented in the photo above. Northside resident Eric Johnson, commenting on the popular North Talk Facebook forum, said, "(The) timing seems strange, but I'll take it. Progress is progress."

Fifteen hours ago as I write these words, Wahlstrom posted a picture on Facebook showing the old Butter Roll sign was down...

Legendary Butter Roll Bakery Poised To Reopen Under New Ownership On West Broadway...

The Butter Roll bakery on West Broadway, a striking building that dominates an important corner essential to the revitalization of West Broadway, is reportedly under new ownership.

Charmaine Wahlstrom, who has been discussing making some kind of major real estate purchase in North Minneapolis for at least two years, (and may have made other purchases, this blogger doesn't have that info at the moment) recently acquired the Butter Roll Bakery which had not been in business since the tragic and sudden death of Donald Petros, 66, in a vehicle accident that also injured his wife, Ginny Petros, also 66...
