Comment and Criticism, blog post by John Hoff
You read it FIRST on Johnny Northside! A source within MPD who has been reasonably reliable in the past, especially as far as reporting what is "rumored within the department," tells me in a breathless Facebook whisper that MPD Chief Deputy Eddie Frizzell plans to file against Hennepin County Sheriff Stanek in the next election.
If Frizzell wins...
...(and here is where the rumor gets oddly specific) then
Copied and pasted right off the "secret squirrel" Facebook message, folks.
JNS blog doesn't know Frizzell but has no reason to hold any negative opinion of the man. As for Stanek, he has always been helpful and gracious to this blogger. Long ago, when I dodged legal service that a frivolous litigant Level Three sex offender was trying to serve upon me, I spoke to Sheriff Stanek on the phone and apologized repeatedly and profusely if I had done anything to embarrass his department by, well, managing to get away from one of his deputies and then writing more than one darkly humorous blog post about the topic.
I won't say precisely what was said in that phone conversation but the upshot was...
Stanek held no rancor against me and said some time we'd have coffee together. I have never met the man but will have to take him up on that coffee some time.
I'm sure Hennepin County would be served well by either candidate but I'm interested to see what positions they take on various issues.
So if Stanek and Frizzell want to submit commentaries (even lengthy commentaries) to this blog, I will be happy to publish those pretty much verbatim. As election looms closer maybe I can submit questions to each of these men.
(Excited. Rubbing hands together)
Yet one question burns me here and now, and here it is:
Why is a wanted fugitive felon sex offender named Peter Rickmyer allowed to roam around free, filing frivolous litigation and generally making life difficult for decent people in North Minneapolis? Why isn't the warrant division of the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office more or less DEMANDING and LOBBYING Oklahoma County, Oklahoma to take back their fugitive who has been wanted on a "non-extraditable" felony warrant since a time before the world heard the phrase THE MOTHER OF ALL BATTLES come from the lips of Saddam Hussein, so long ago was the warrant issued? The warrant is so old it's OLD ENOUGH TO DRINK.
That's why I care about. That ONE issue.
And as far as I'm concerned, anybody who solves THAT problem gets THIS blog's ringing endorsement, for whatever it's worth.
