"The Blue Tarp House" (Photo 1)

The house at the corner of Lyndale Ave. N. and 30st Ave. N--on the west side of Lyndale, kind of across from Bangkok Market--is simply called the "Blue Tarp House" by folks in the neighborhood.

Long ago, somebody used blue tarps to cover a bad roof, but the tarps have become severely weathered, and portions of them flap like the eerie, tattered sails of a ghost ship. While calling 311 about the open, unsecured doors and windows at 2955 Lyndale Ave. N., a house or two over, I snapped a few pictures for posterity.

Well, not that posterity will need the pictures any time soon. There's no indication the Blue Tarp House will be changing in the near future.

The house is actually on the corner of 30th and Lyndale, and was listed this spring for $9,900 (yeah that's right - less than 10k and it's a duplex), but the listing was cancelled in May. I'm betting it was sold to an investor outside of the MLS, probably in a bundle with other properties, and no one's gotten around to doing anything with it yet.

I've corrected accordingly in regard to 30th versus 31st. But as you know...the avenues do something confusing on that part of Lyndale, and don't connect with each other straight across. I'm still learning my way around but, hey, at least I don't go looking for a 5th Street N. in that part of town, ha ha. if you know what I mean.
