Murder Suspect Leonard Bernard Baker "Evicted After Arrest"

Stock photo and blog post by John Hoff

Leonard Bernard Baker was one of three teenagers arrested in the murder of James Teto Grant's death, which took place in Theo Wirth Park. Grant thought he was going to the park for a gang initiation, but instead was beaten to death with a shovel, his body tied to a stolen car battery and thrown into Bassett Creek, click here for City Pages "Homicide Files" story.

Scrutinizing the Hennepin County jail roster turns up a tidbit of information which adds to the overall picture...

Turns out Leonard B. Baker was "evicted after arrest." So now he is presumably homeless and lives at the jail. The question is where did he live before and who was the property owner who was responsible enough to actually evict him?

Since the jail roster was apparently updated to reflect Baker's new status, finding Baker's former address becomes more difficult. It goes to show that if property owners will actually evict no-account thugs indicted for horrific crimes, property owners can probably keep their names off the internet as the landlords of alleged criminals...unlike, for example, notorious slumlord Bashir Moghul whose background checks leave much to be desired.

Please explain how you can determine where someone lives from the Sheriff's Jail Roster. The roster provided absolutely no home address information:

There is no information that he was evicted or is homeless. Where do you get such information?

If you go to the roster and check the function which says "received by" the home addresses come up. For some reason, they don't come up with the other functions, just that one. Not sure why.

Fool around with the search functions of the roster, be sure you ONLY check "received by." It will work. I'm not doing anything special which can't be done by anybody else. It's not the most intuitive system, and I only figured it out kinda by accident.

Also, I should point out these home addresses leave something to be desired. There are addresses which may be mistakes or outright lies which simply aren't checked before being plugged into the system. I've been putting the addresses into the city's property search function, and about half a dozen of these addresses just don't EXIST, and I'm not even through the letter "C" on the surnames!

You have no idea what you are talking about, but you always put your incorrect two sense in where you have no business. You have too much time on your hand. Get your facts right. Thanks

The correct spelling of the phrase is "two cents." Also, that would be too much time on "your hands" not "your hand."

Look who has no idea what he's talking about.

I continue to express concern about the inconsistencies in this information and what checks exist in the system to make sure arrested suspects provide addresses which actually exist, and these addresses are loaded into the system correctly.

Is that "john" thing actually intended as a clever play on words?
