A little more than a week ago, Fifth Ward City Councilman Blong Yang--our neighborhood's "law and order" representative in Minneapolis city government--published the following on his Facebook page, and his comments were immediately shared on North Vent, the premiere Facebook forum on North Minneapolis neighborhood issues...

Posting from a Google profile with the name "Blong Yang," but unconfirmed (ADDENDUM, INFO IS NOW CONFIRMED) to be connected with Fifth Ward Candidate Blong Yang, I have received the following missive:

Johnny Northside, you're a hard person to get a hold of, so here's my response: Your sources are absolutely WRONG on the Jerry Moore connection. I guess they're not very credible. I mean, if you want dirt from my campaign, just come and ask me. Spreading lies and rumors seems to be a common thing, at least from that one campaign. I can guess which one. I don't know Jerry Moore. And, I can flat out say that Jerry Moore has not and will not work for me. Hopefully that's clear.

To which JNS Blog replies: I am glad to hear that, if it's true and if the message does indeed come from you, Mr. Yang. Send me an email. Do you know which campaign, if any, Jerry Moore is working for? Also, I would like your further thoughts on sex offender concentration.

As I previously reported, click here, a rumor was passed to me from Source A (a known, credible person) to Source B (an even more well known and equally credible person) that Jerry Moore appeared to be working for Brett Buckner.

Now Source B and also "Source C" are telling me THAT IS NOT CORRECT. In fact, both sources suspect Jerry Moore is, in fact, working for the campaign of Blong Yang, whose domination in the Fifth Ward yard sign war is undisputed. And, in fact, Source B passed on scuttlebutt from one of the political campaigns in Ward 5. At least one Ward 5 campaign believes Jerry Moore is, in fact, associated with Blong Yang. I'm told Jerry and Brett Buckner "don't get along" so while Jerry may very well be spotted talking politely to Buckner, at length (Jerry is known to be incredibly long winded) that doesn't mean Jerry Moore is WORKING for Buckner.

SO WHAT IS GOING ON, HERE? This blogger has caught the rank odor of Jerry Moore in Ward 5 and that would be the same Jerry Moore who owes me $3,799.69!!!!!!!! from the blogosphere trial of the century.

Somebody, tell me something. Tell me if Jerry Moore is working for one of the campaigns and, if so, which one. If any campaigns wish to disavow association with Jerry Moore (which would be a very good idea) then, please, contact me or comment or something.

BY GOD!!!!!! I will get to the bottom of this. I will find Jerry Moore because when I do, I will find my money. 

Blong Yang Is Winning The Fifth Ward Yard Sign War, While This Blogger Has No Idea What A Brett Buckner Yard Sign LOOKS Like...

To those who live in the Fifth Ward, it's obvious that city council candidate Blong Yang has been winning the yard sign war quite handily. Yang's signs are EVERYWHERE. Even Level Three Sex Offender Peter "Spanky Pete" Rickmyer has a sign in his yard.

Do not mistake that last remark as a criticism of Blong Yang. To my way of thinking, anybody who can make Peter Rickmyer do something useful, like rake leaves, pick up litter, or post a yard sign near a busy intersection, is something of a miracle worker. Though I am mystified why the most notorious sex offender in North Minneapolis supports Blong Yang who, from what I have seen and heard, may be in a dead heat with Ian Alexander as the most anti-sex offender of all the candidates.

As for other candidates in the race, I think I've seen a few Ian Alexander signs, but I don't even know what a Brett Buckner sign looks like. Green Party candidate Kale Severson has been living up to his first name in this race: He's Green, and he's really more of a garnish than an entree. But I have a vague memory of maybe, possibly, seeing one of his signs so that puts Kale slightly ahead of Buckner in the all-important race for next-to-last and the avoidance of total humiliation at the polls ala Lennie Chism. 

If this race were decided upon nothing but yard sign placement, then it's Blong Yang by a landslide. If it were decided upon which candidate is most likely to support turning the proposed Bottineau Transit Line into a groovy vegan co-op, then it's Kale Severson.

In response to a request by this blogger for an on-the-record statement about Level Three sex offender concentration in our neighborhoods, Blong Yang (a candidate for Hennepin County Commissioner in District 2) has issued a written statement about this issue.

"I have two kids," the statement reads in part. "I am very concerned about this issue..."

The full statement will be "auto published" at 11:06 on Tuesday morning.

Remember that election day is November 6 (11/6) and it will be a Tuesday.  Vote as your conscience dictates, but get out and vote. 

JNS Blog Poses Questions To Higgins And Yang About Level Three Sex Offender Concentration In North Minneapolis...

Ask this blogger what is the most pressing issue facing North Minneapolis and I will tell you it's the concentration of Level Three Sex Offenders in my neighborhood. The reason this issue ranks so high is because it has the potential to impact the most vulnerable and valuable citizens in my neighborhood; small children whose whole productive life is ahead of them.

Also, unlike some really big issues like crime, or the need to stabilize neighborhoods with more homeowners and not so many slumlords, or any of half a dozen issues, the L3SO concentration issue is relatively easy to tweak. With a few memos, high-ranking public officials could say stuff like, "When a citizen sends an email to a supervisor at the Department of Corrections, asking what the curfew is for Peter 'Spanky Pete' Rickmyer, that citizen deserves a prompt and specific answer, damn it."

Oh, wait. Draft that letter again. Drop "damn it."

That's why these folks get the big public official bucks instead of the small blogger bucks.

Or, perhaps, a few memos could be written saying stuff like...
