Kim Kardashian Broke The Internet, But Mahmood Khan Broke MNCIS Online Court Records System...Here Is The Chronology Of Pain, Suffering And Eviction!

Image of Kim Kardashian in public domain, blog post
by John Hoff (Come on, you have to admit that's a
much nicer picture than an image of a 62-year-old
low-end landlord)

Trying to follow up with a piece of information in a recent Star Tribune article--that some of Mahmood Khan's tenants are suing him over a fire at one of his many properties--I tried looking up the civil court case on MNCIS using what must surely be the preferred spelling for Khan's first name, which turns out to be "Mahmood" and not "Mahmoud," though I've seen it both ways.

Let me tell you, friends and neighbors, I've been running names through Minnesota's online court record system (MNCIS) for a long time. And, sure, if you run an incredibly common name with no additional information, such as a birthday, you might get a lot of search results.

But in half a decade of running names (even common names that produce a lot of results) I've never seen red letters come up on MNCIS, like so...

Years Of Court Battles For Mahmood Khan, Owner Of A North Minneapolis Rental Property Empire In Tatters...

Mahmood Khan Is All The Buzz On Facebook

A little more than a week ago, Fifth Ward City Councilman Blong Yang--our neighborhood's "law and order" representative in Minneapolis city government--published the following on his Facebook page, and his comments were immediately shared on North Vent, the premiere Facebook forum on North Minneapolis neighborhood issues...

Backhoe Of Doom Is Parked In Front Of 4425 Aldrich Ave. N., A Slumlord Mahmoud Khan Rental Where Nine Occupants Were Injured In A Fire...

Contributed photo and/or photo used under First Amendment Fair Comment and
Criticism and/or photo used by permission of moderator of North Talk Facebook
forum, blog post by John Hoff

Jeff Skrenes, who blogs as the Hawthorne Hawkman and started the popular North Talk Facebook forum, pointed me to some information on his forum and urged me to blog it since Jeff (social butterfly that he is) finds himself busy with other obligations.

It would appear a "Backhoe of Doom" is parked in front of 4425 Aldrich Ave. N., a notoriously decrepit eyesore owned by slumlord Mahmoud Khan. The parking of such a backhoe is always a sign of impending demolition, kind of like when a prisoner on death row is moved out of his cell and to the "ready" area, and asked what he'd like for a last meal.

This building was the scene of...

Possible Gas Leak At Crappy Khan "Murder House" Threatened Whole Neighborhood With Explosion Hazard At 6 AM This Morning, WHEN IS THE CITY GOING TO TAKE ALL THIS S.O.B.'S RENTAL LICENSES? INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW IN NOMI...

Creative stock photo, not North Minneapolis, blog

does not depict a vehicle on fire.

According to information from some good citizen in the neighborhood, which was forwarded to me by email, this morning there was a possible gas leak at 2401 Ilion Ave. N., the location of a recent homicide reported extensively here on JNS blog. The Minneapolis fire department and emergency crews from Centerpoint Energy and Xcel responded. JNS believes MPD was probably on the scene as well though that fact was not reported to me.

The house is reportedly empty since the arrest of the leaseholders after the recent homicide incident. One citizen, speaking well for all of us, wrote as follows:

Fourth Precinct Begins "Conduct On The Premises" Crackdown On Northside Rental Property, Thank God...

Creative stock photo, blog post by John Hoff

Word reaches JNS blog that letters have gone around to all the licensed rental properties in the Fourth Precinct, stating that a crackdown will begin July 19 on rental property, with particular emphasis upon "conduct on premises" provisions.

I have a copy of the letter, click here.

Sorry the letter may not be as convenient to view as many of my other Google docs, it was sent to me as an image instead of a PDF.

Not that I'm complaining.

If officers of the Fourth Precinct would like a road map to bad behavior on Northside rental properties, they could use JNS blog. For the past several years, I have made a constant practice of determining the addresses of criminal suspects, then scrutinizing the properties where they live and making connections to the slumlord class.

Click here for an example of THAT.

Sometimes I even come up with the name of a rental property owner OTHER THAN Mahmoud Khan.

In closing and in summary...

God Bless The Fourth Precinct.

Another Fire At Another Mahmood Khan Rental Property, CONFIRMED CONFIRMED CONFIRMED...

Photo by Hawthorne Hawkman, blog post by John Hoff

Yesterday, my fellow Northside blogger Hawthorne Hawkman managed to confirm what I strongly suspected:

A house fire on the 2000 block of 21st Ave. N. took place at slumlord Mahmood Khan's property at 2008 21st Ave. N., pictured above. This is the SECOND near-fatal fire at a Khan property to take place this year.

It was only back in early March when a fire at 4425 Aldrich Ave. N. injured nine people, leading to a lot of media coverage and editorial comments by this blogger which were strongly-worded even by my usual freewheeling standards.

Allow me to refresh the public memory about what I said regarding slumlord Mahmood Khan after the house fire which injured nine people...

Slumlord Mahmood Khan's Building At 2008 21st Ave. N. Cited For "Lack Of Maintenance," And So The Khan Empire Crumbles Bit By Bit, Day By Day...

Creative stock photo, blog post by John Hoff

Pictured above, a venomous snake with its head chopped off.  I personally ate this snake with a delicious garlic flavored batter and then tanned his gnarly hide to make a wallet or hatband or something.

This image bears no relation to the story below.

OR DOES IT?

In the course of trying to determine the address of a house fire described in a mainstream media story, I searched the 2000 block of 21st Ave. N. by driving around in the frigging dark and then I did an online search of Minneapolis property records for any clues to the precise address.

I didn't manage to turn up the address.

Allow me to point out it's very annoying when the mainstream media reports on tragic house fires but then describes the address as "the blah blah hundred block of whatever avenue north."

Like, WHAT?! Is the information...

Former Mahmood Khan "Murder Property" Demolished, What A Shame Khan Wasn't Inside When It Happened...

Photos, blog post by John Hoff

It happened a couple weeks ago, but the end of such a notorious property can't pass by unremarked. The house and detached garage at 2222 4th St. N. have been demolished.

The hovel in question was owned by notorious North Minneapolis slumlord Mahmood Khan, but now the owner is listed as Hennepin County Forfeited Land. The property became infamous when murder victim Annshalike Hamilton, 15, was found in the garage.

Her murder is still unsolved and there is a reward.

Backhoe Of Doom Parked In Front Of 2222 4th St. N., The "Murder Property" Owned By Mahmoud Khan...

Photo contributed by Hawthorne Hawkman, blog post
by John Hoff

The endless saga of 2222 4th St. N. looks to be coming to an end. As early as 2009, neighbors thought the house would soon be demolished by slumlord Mahmoud Khan (he of the eight units and one smoke detector) fought a court battle to save the property. He lost.

Click here for previous blog coverage.

This is the property where the body of Annshalike Hamilton, 15, was found in the garage. The murder remains unsolved though Hamilton's mother has repeatedly voiced her suspicions about who she believes killed her daughter.

As of today, a backhoe is parked in front of the property.

It is assumed demolition will begin tomorrow.

Not a moment too soon!
And by "moment" I mean, well, YEAR.

Mahmood Khan Is The Owner Of 4425 Aldrich Ave. N., Scene Of Fire Where Nine Were Injured...

Stock photo, this DOES NOT depict 4425 Aldrich Ave. N. but is
ANOTHER Khan property at 2639 Oliver Ave. N., blog post by John Hoff

Two words: Mahmood Khan.

I've seen three media reports on the recent fire at 4425 Aldrich Ave. N. and every one of those reports pussy-foots all around the ownership of the building. Mahmood Khan is one of the most notorious slumlords in North Minneapolis, the bane of our neighborhood revitalization. According to even these PUSSY FOOTED media reports, the house in question (which is NOT pictured above, that's ANOTHER shitty Khan property) was carved into eight different apartments.

Only ONE of those apartments had a working smoke detector...

Slumlord Mahmoud Khan Loses Court Battle, 2222 4th St. N. To Be Demolished...No, Really, Even Though That's What Some Of Us Thought Back In 2009...

Contributed photos, blog post by John Hoff

As long ago as 2009, there was talk of the house at 222 4th St. N. being demolished IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE. Click here for my blog coverage from 2009.

Obviously the very near future was a long time away. Slumlord Mahmood Khan kept matters tied up in court but finally lost his battle. Councilman Gary Schiff was the one who "broke the story" by posting info on the North Talk Facebook page even though the house is located in Council Member Hofstede's ward.

The rest of the story about this structure is...

Slumlord Mahmoud Khan Is Batting 5 Out Of 120 So Far In Assessment Appeal, But A More Pressing Issue Is DOES MAHMOUD KHAN HATE AMERICA AND ALL IT STANDS FOR?

Image from a Youtube video about Khan, which itself is using a STrib photo, blog post by John Hoff

From an anonymous poster to this blog, I received word of (what seemed at first) a somewhat alarming development in the city's government's push against slumlord Mahmoud Khan and his numerous messed up properties. A few days ago, the City Attorney had recommended some kind of SETTLEMENT with Khan the slumlord. The item appeared in an agenda from August 28, as follows...

You may not be able to read the writing in the photo above, so I will help. It says, "residents live in the fear that comes with Mahmood Khan tenants."

Here's a good example of that...

Read 'Em And Weep: List Of Slumlord Mahmood Khan's Properties, Updated...

Photo image from a Youtube video put together by citizens in North Minneapolis, but the photo of Khan shown above apparently originated with the Star Tribune, blog post by John Hoff

This blog previously published a list of the properties known to be owned by notorious North Minneapolis slumlord Mahmood Khan, click here.

I was recently forwarded a longer list than I had before. It includes a couple properties that aren't in North Minneapolis.

Slumlord Mahmood Khan Video That Was Sent To The City Council By Concerned Northside Residents...

Youtube embed, blog post by John Hoff

The video embedded above was recently sent to the Minneapolis City Council by concerned citizens. Somebody was kind enough to share a link with me on Northtalk, the hot Facebook page where so much gets done, and gets talked about.

Demolition Order Upheld For Slumlord Mahmood Khan's Rat Trap At 2639 Oliver Ave. N., ACCORDING TO NORTH TALK FACEBOOK PAGE...

Photo was posted by Deb Wagner to North Talk FB page, blog post by John Hoff

Word on the North Talk FB page is the City Council Regulatory Services Committee refused to grant Mahmood Khan's appeal to reverse the demolition order on 2639 Oliver Ave. N., pictured above.

This could have been a viable fixer-upper if it hadn't fallen into the hands of slumlord Mahmood Khan.

Appeals Court Slaps Slumlord Mahmood Khan...

Blog post by John Hoff

Word reaches me in Afghanistan that slumlord Mahmood Khan, who appealed the revocation of the rental license of his property at 3223 Bryant Ave. N., just got slapped down by the Minnesota State Court of Appeals.

Here is a link to the recent court case.

According to a local lawyer who "cc emailed" me about the matter, a slummy thumby nail summary would be as follows...

Khan claimed the hearing officer was biased because the city hired that person. And the state appeals court said nuh-uh.

I should add that "slummy thumby nail summary" is my phrase. However, "appeals court said nuh-uh" is verbatim from the local attorney.

Slumlord Mahmood Khan's Answer To "The Curtains Of Dispair" Is "The Pizza Box Of Desperation"

Photo and blog post by John Hoff

What happened here at 2501 Golden Valley Road? Was slumlord Mahmood Khan jealous of all the attention this blog paid to "The Curtains of Dispair" at Bashir Moghul's run down property, and so Khan needed to grab center stage?

Check out what's going on with this broken plate glass window. Somebody has stuffed a take-out pizza box and a bubble gum pink blanket behind the hole in the window. Please note that whoever did this has a finely-tuned sense of aesthetics: they faced the greasy side of the pizza box away from the outside.

Careful, you might accidentally set off a wave of gentrification like that! Here's the most bitter irony of all: this building is directly across from a glass repair business.

Obviously, about ten seconds after I get done with this blog post...

...I will be sending an email to 311.

But it's pretty hard to keep up with Mahmood Khan, no matter how many 311 calls and emails are made. This man's capacity to create slummy conditions are on a par with the super powers of cartoon villains. We in North Minneapolis can only cry out to a higher power, in this case the city: please revoke this man's rental license and save us from his tidal wave of slum!
