It's been a while since I've written about "stupid home repairs," but in a neighborhood plagued by slumlords, stupid home repairs are never hard to find. This latest contender for the dunce-cap shaped crown-o-stupid is to be found on...
...Newton Ave. N. in the Jordan Neighborhood.
Riddle me this: why can an entity like Habitat for Humanity or Urban Homeworks create a multi-colored house, and have it look good, but the minute a slumlord selects more than one color of paint, the result is inevitably a motley aesthetic horror show? I mean, really, is there a special palette of colors for slumlords which is inaccessible to everybody else? (One thinks of "Keith Reitman blue" and "ugly ass chocolate" and shudders)
My favorite part of the whole dog and painted pony show is the scaffold which has been left on the roof for the duration of winter, apparently, looking like the undersized wings of a fat, flightless bird which--despite its inability to fly--now stretches forth its limbs and holds its breath before taking a running start southbound on Newton Avenue North.
To this house I say: RUN! RUN! YOU'RE FREE!!!! Please, run as fast and as far from my neighborhood as possible!
Being the amazing, true-to-life adventures and (very likely) misadventures of a writer who seeks to take his education, activism and seemingly boundless energy to North Minneapolis, (NoMi) to help with a process of turning a rapidly revitalizing neighborhood into something approaching Urban Utopia. I am here to be near my child. From 02/08 to 06/15 this blog pushed free speech to the envelope, so others could take heart and speak unafraid. Email me at hoffjohnw@gmail.com

it's cold outside, and its left dormer turned blue :(
and it looks like there might have been some shrinkage in the chimney area as well.
They probably just use random paint left over from previous tenants, hence the offensive multi-color combinations. I'd rather they just dump it straight down the storm sewer along with the free bowl of soup that comes with those color choices than continue to make the baby-Jesus cry by subjecting the innocent public to their philistinism.
Just to add something to the record: it's 2726 Newton Ave. N. It's owned by Danlen Properties, LLC of 13570 Grove Drive #107 Maple Grove, MN 55311.
http://apps.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/PiApp/GeneralInfoRpt.aspx?PIN=43945
He also owns one at 2958 Queen--that's near 30th and Queen, hardcore crackhead prostitute territory. I wonder how many properties Danlen properties has? The fact Danlen Properties and slumlord Keith Reitman share the same passion for "hypothermia blue" is worrisome all by itself.
920 26th Ave. N. is another one, that property uses a master address of 15821 Hedgehog Street, Ramsey MN 55303.

Another is 1620 25th Ave. N.

2719 Dupont Ave. N.

3238 Girard Ave. N. This one shows a different master address in Minnetonka, as follows: 9617 Oak Ridge Tr. Minnetonka, MN 55305.

2653 James Ave. N.
Uses the master address in Maple Grove.

That's all we can turn up for the moment with Google. Can anybody direct us to more addresses owned by Danlen Properties, LLC?
LOL @ shrinkage!
Oops, here's more:
734 30th Ave. N.
http://apps.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/PiApp/GeneralInfoRpt.aspx?PIN=42267
Ha!!!!!!!!!!!
Their left dormer turned blue in the cold and created a public spectacle, causing bloggers to inquire further!
4225 Colefax Ave. N.
http://apps.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/PiApp/GeneralInfoRpt.aspx?PIN=46732
This address is interesting because the master address is the same as the one in Minnetonka, but it's listed in HOPKINS! WTF?! 9617 Oakridge Trail Hopkins MN 55305.

1839 Oliver Ave. N.

"License In Review"
Must confess I wasn't really paying attention to the line that sometimes says "License in Review" as I went after more and more addresses...
2011 Sheridan Ave. N.
http://apps.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/PiApp/GeneralInfoRpt.aspx?PIN=21857
Got a communication by email today that provided me the addresses of two more properties, one of which I have confirmed belong to Danlen Properties LLC.
1349 Sheridan Ave. N.
The other I hav not yet confirmed belongs to Danlen so I am not yet listing it.
I am from St. Anne's Place shelter on Russell. We have a house across the street from us that is owned by Danlen Properties in Brooklyn Park. We are trying to reach them to file a complaint about the tenants because they have been shooting bb guns at our building and at our clients. We have called the police MANY times.
Can't seem to find a phone number. DO you have any info about how to reach someone?
I'd suggest contacting Jeff Skrenes, the Housing Director of the Hawthorne Neighborhood Organization. I usually kick questions like this to him.
Q:"I am from St. Anne's Place shelter on Russell. We have a house across the street from us that is owned by Danlen Properties in Brooklyn Park."

Going to the city of Minneapolis website, I searched for "Danlen." From there I confirmed they were tax delinquent on a property in Jordan, 2815 James Ave N.
I then went to the city's property info look-up service (this is a multi-step process because we STILL can't search for info with the owner as a search criteria). I looked up that address and then went to their rental license section. The phone number there is 612-242-9073. I hope it's still an accurate number.
3412 Girard ave no is his too... Lenny Frolov 612-242-9073
