Click here for the criminal complaint.

Jail roster information tipped this blog to the fact Khayree Copeland was charged either with murder or attempted murder, and it turns out to be a case of "attempted" in what sounds like a sad little pot deal gone wrong outside of 1915/1913 Willow Ave. N., a property owned by the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority.

The shooting happened on November 21 and...

...the criminal complaint goes into considerable detail about how the victim was shot by Copeland (allegedly) who had previously been known to the victim as a friendly local marijuana dealer. But this time, "sensing something was wrong," the victim "called off the deal" and ended up being shot, allegedly.

Copeland already has multiple convictions, including being in possession of a short-barreled shotgun. He is prohibited from possessing firearms.

It is unknown to this blogger whether Khayree Copeland is related to other individuals named "Copeland" whose names and stories (alleged stories) have appeared on this blog from time to time.

hey Johnny why don't you start a conversation about the little girl that was kidnapped the other day? This is what we really need to be talking about....

One thing I noticed from reading the actual charges is that the minimum sentence for both first and second degree murder is a paltry three years. The minimum for being a felon in possession is five. Seems the laws need changing as well as enforcing, but maybe that is just me.

Regarding the kidnapping, the mainstream media are all over it and I have no new information to add. I do not add to the chorus but sing my own tune. I am very glad that a participant in a North Minneapolis Facebook forum had their own security camera and captured video. I think that video will be the key to finding the suspect.

Minneapolis Public Housing Authprity is full of people who don't keep on top of their business. Its been found that felons and evictees still receive vouchers. Pressure needs to be put on them for infesting the Northside with bad charactors.

And how would you suggest applying this pressure?

Khayree is Jiyaad Copelands younger brother...And Donquarius copeland is their younger cousin.

Apply it with a tourniquet and cut it's head off and maybe we stem the flow of dregs with drugs infesting our community and stop the Chicago flop. Do not hold your breath.
