Click here for previous blog post about Jeremiah E. Blackwell when he was just a mysterious Biblical name on a jail roster.
Now here is Blackwell's criminal complaint for First Degree Aggravated Robbery:
And here is the complaint for Second Degree Murder:
Just moments ago, the Hennepin County Attorney's office sent out a press release about the charges against Blackwell, and just by virtue of being in my email that very moment JNS blog might be the first to publish it, as follows...
This blog has rarely hesitated to level moral judgments at criminal wrongdoers. But I level none at Mr. Gonzalez-Sanchez. Illegal immigration is a difficult public policy issue about which this blog is not taking a position, being the issue is not very relevant to North Minneapolis. Illegal immigration only becomes a crime issue when undocumented workers commit crimes, and I see no evidence Gonzalez-Sanchez ever did that. On the contrary, Gonzalez-Sanchez appeared to be what I'd habitually call a "good citizen."
Rest In Peace, Eulalio Gonzalez-Sanchez. The following embedded YouTube video serves as a respectful tribute to that rarest of things in North Minneapolis: a victim who was a "decent person" and didn't appear to be involved in the exact same bad and unproductive lifestyle choices as his (alleged) murderer. It is, like the murder of "Good Samaritan" Thomas Sonnenberg, a "tragedy of Biblical proportions."
