After a flurry of activity in 2013, it appears public officials who represent North Minneapolis have thrown up their hands and walked away from the issue of Level Three sex offenders being outrageously concentrated in North Minneapolis.
One of the sex offenders is question was Jesse Lee Garland, who lived in North Minneapolis for the longest time. Recently, however, a commenter drew my attention to Mr. Garland, asserting that (in summary) he wasn't such a bad guy and this blog was dragging down Garland's good name...
Well, having Garland's name in front of me caused me to check into what he's up to. It was in July of this year I noticed he was sitting in jail for something. With our public officials doing nothing, unfortunately the only way to reduce the concentration of sex offenders is for the offenders to violate their probation.
It turns out Garland is back in prison. That Hennepin County jail incarceration in July was the beginning of something much longer. In fact, Garland won't be released (if MNDOC can be believed, a dicey proposition) until June 24, 2015.
At which time he will end up right back on the Northside and if history is any guide, our public officials will throw up their hands and say they can't do anything about it.
