After setting off numerous pyrotechnics in a large, open area near a school (which is pretty much tolerated by the police on the Fourth of July, and we're all grateful for the slack) what does a good citizen do? Cleans up his or her mess, right?
What does a bad citizen do? Leaves the mess for somebody else to clean up.
What does a citizen do if they're not really very good, but not all that bad, either?
Stacks the mess up neatly and leaves it by a small tree for somebody else to clean up.
Behold, the march toward civilized behavior in North Minneapolis, pictured above on the bleary-eyed day after the Fourth of July.
Really, this is so much better than "let's see if we can set the tree on fire."
