Back By Popular Demand! Hennepin County Jailhouse Roster Nuggets!

Creative stock photo, blog post by John Hoff

Here are some of the denizens of the Hennepin County jail with particularly noteworthy charges.

Khiree Devon Atkinson, DOB 7/11/91, sits in jail on $100,000 bail facing...

..."continued charges" for aggravated robbery first degree, trespassing and use or possession of drug paraphernalia. The jail roster lists his address as 1526 Emerson Ave. N., a rental property owned by Amy Otteson but the taxpayers are listed as LA Templin and BL Templin of 206 5th St. S. Bayport, Minnesota.

The house at 1526 Emerson Ave. N. also turns up online associated with something called the Foundation Charity of W-E-O.

Is that pronounced "We Owe?"

I am unable to find any previous charges or convictions associated with Khiree Devon Atkinson. There's a guy with all three of the same names, but based on the age, it's not the same guy.
---------------

Harold Eugene Ballard, 10/25/93, is out on $1,000 bail but facing weapons charges. He lists his address as 2900 Sheridan Ave. N.

Ballard doesn't have much of a criminal record, but he does have a very worrisome conviction for domestic assault. In fact, there was a warrant issued on August 6 which stemmed from that case and a revocation hearing is scheduled for 9/19/2012.

OK, so this guy has a domestic violence issue (clearly) and he's charged for weapons possession, but he's just back out on the streets for $1,000 bail? (Can you get that from a bail bondsman with a hundred dollar bill? I hear you can)

Sal Locota Bass, DOB 7/20/1960, was in jail briefly, picked up on "probable cause" for failure to register as a predatory offender, allegedly. He appears to have been released to the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office. Bass lists his address as 2708 Dupont Ave. N., a rental that belongs to Glen Ford Senior of the same address.

Online court records show a conviction for First Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct filed in 1997, for which he did 80 months (yes, EIGHTY MONTHS) in prison, with credit for 320 days served. Release conditions included no contact with the victim or with minor females.

Bass? Consider yourself "Johnny Northside registered."

Thomas Louis Bell, DOB 12/29/86 refused to provide an address. He is charged with a weapons violation and has a bail of $50,000. Court records show a previous conviction for aggravated robbery, aiding assault fifth degree, third degree controlled substance possession, possessing a pistol or assault weapon after being adjudicated guilty of a crime of violence, (he still owes $135 on that charged and the record shows a spelling of "Lewis" for his middle name)

Ironically, there's not a single North Minneapolis zip code in his court records and but for his refusal to give an address, I probably never would have written anything.

More nuggetry to follow when the mood strikes me.
