If you are a felon, you are prohibited from having a gun. That means ANY gun, including a BB gun. Incredibly, for legal purposes a BB gun is a firearm of very minor caliber...in the case of the gun Anthony Johntay Carrillo is accused of possessing, the caliber is .177.

It could still put out an eye!

According to a complaint filed back in April, police were called to a gas station on...

..."Broadway" (I assume that's West Broadway) on a report of a man with a gun at a gas station. A male was in a verbal altercation with employees and threatening to "get a gun." Police stopped the vehicle and Carrillo reportedly admitted he had a BB gun in the vehicle, which police quickly found. It was a Colt Defender .177, which is NOT the make and model pictured above but rather similar in its resemblance to a Colt .45 caliber pistol.

In other words...pretty realistic looking, for a BB gun.

Carrillo is prohibited from having a gun (ANY gun) due to a conviction in 2010 for First Degree Robbery.

Incredibly, this blogger has written about THREE OTHER INSTANCES of felons in North Minneapolis being charged with gun possession over, good grief, a BB gun.

Click here for Corey Davis Jr., who allegedly hid a gun in his crotch.

Click here for a story about deplorable conditions at a home on Oliver Ave. N, in which BB gun possession was part of the criminal complaint.

Click here for a story about a couple alleged miscreants who stood at a bus stop and waited after allegedly committing a crime, in which a BB gun was reportedly involved.

I don't blame the police for their zealousness. Realistic guns are useful for the commission of real crimes. Apparently the word needs to get out to felons that "BB gun possession is gun possession."

How about some public service announcement placards on the "Bloody No. 19" bus?

Carrillo lives at 1410 Milton Ave. N. in the 55411 zip code, according to the criminal complaint.

Sad to say, there is no such address in North. It's embarrassing but, well, from time to time this happens on the Hennepin County jail roster and (more rarely) on criminal complaints. I keep pointing it out but I am a voice in the wilderness.

The jail roster lists Carrillo is living at 1410 Newton Ave. N.

The moral of the story is that you should not fuck with people that have the conviction to kill you.
