Following news of a cock fighting ring busted in North Minneapolis plus an arrest not long ago involving dog fighting, North Minneapolis residents in Facebook discussion forums are (shall we say?) "rabid" to learn the names of suspects who may be involved with this inhumane and reprehensible activity.
Looking at the jail roster tonight I see somebody named John Adrian Handy (DOB 11/5/67) was arrested on suspicion of animal fighting. The arrest happened January 23 and he was released 36 hours later on January 25. No charges were filed. Handy is innocent until and unless proven guilty.
Handy's address on the jail roster is...
...1417 Fremont Ave. N., a homesteaded property which he owns in his own name.
Handy has a previous arrest for allegedly failing to notify the owner of damaged property in the wake of a traffic mishap. Though a minor charge, it did cause his mugshot to go online.
He also had a driving after suspension charge in 2002 which made a different mugshot go online.
Looking at his rap sheet, (not all these entries may represent actual convictions) something pretty relevant turns up a couple entries down...

I understand the photo is upsetting, and that's exactly why I've used the photo in connection with the headline naming a man already convicted of animal cruelty and suspected of involvement in dog fighting. I'll get more posts up in the next few days and the upsetting photo will drop to the bottom.

Sorry, I don't have the answer to that at hand. I know the photo and its origins and the fact it was used on the Facebook page of JMaul Breedingdemmonsters Grayland was discussed, extensively, on a Facebook page dedicated to stopping dog fighting. I tried to find the page and the discussion but there are, like, about half a dozen Facebook pages on that topic and I'm not sure which one it was, though I THINK it was a page associated with Cook County, somehow?
You know who might have the answer? Bridget Mengerson who is on Facebook and first brought the photo to everybody's attention. She knows more about the photo in more detail than me. What I know about the photo I put in the photo credit but I don't know the rest; not enough to answer your question.

Proving "actual malice" will not prove difficult at all when it's knowing and/or reckless disregard of the truth. Believe you me, I learned PLENTY at my own trial for defamation.
I have mountains of evidence in regard to that. The era of "troll blogs" and "anti-Johnnys" who knowingly make up false facts and publish that stuff is going to come to an end. Trolls won't be hard to find at Texas Storage Wares, their grandmother's house or wherever they happen to be to accomplish legal service. You can take this as fair warning or you can keep on doing what you've been doing. But when the time comes you won't be able to say you weren't put on notice, and it will consist of a lot more than me typing this comment.
