From Burglary Suspect To Good Citizen Handyman

The previous story about Jeff Skrenes driving off the debri dumpers reminded me of another colorful incident which happened with 415 31st Ave. N., which I forgot to blog about after "Patty Cake" told me...

Somebody was taking the boarded-up door off 415, and either "Patty Cake" or "The Polish Lady" or both saw this, and figured it was some kind of thief coming to remove copper and fixtures (not that any are left) in 415. So one of them called 911, naturally.

The police arrived, but it turned out the guys at the house were part of a legitimate crew assessing the place for demolition. When "Patty Cake" realized they were actually good citizens and, furthermore, they had one of the unique drill bits needed to remove the special "public screws" from boarded-up doors and windows, "Patty Cake" asked for assistance with the board over her back window.

See, the window was boarded up by the 4th Precinct after a break-in (I've lost count how many break-ins there have been; two at least. Maybe three) and Patty Cake was finally feeling courageous enough to take the board off after the window was repaired.

So the crew helped her remove the board, going from "suspect" to "good citizen handyman" in a short span of time. Such is life in the Eco-Village!
