4th Street Saloon Mural Progressing...

Contributed photo, xoxo, blog post by John Hoff

Even as the worn out mural on the nearby Kemps facility was painted over, a new mural began to a emerge not very far away on the side of the 4th Street Saloon.

The mural doesn't seem to be finished, quite yet, but looks like a great work in progress. Everybody looks forward to seeing the finished product.

The mural is being done by Charles Caldwell, lifelong Northsider, through a grant from The McKnight Foundation. This is the 5th artistic facade improvement funded by West Broadway Art Street through the Northside Arts Collective.

This one actually drew the most intrique from the selection panel because of the great location. We're proud that folks will see this from I-94 and as they enter our community at West Broadway & Washington.

Thanks to Charles Caldwell for the spectacular work!

Trashy. Why can't we just have nicely painted buildings? It will only take a week before this is defaced.

Actually, none of the graffiti taggers in Minneapolis seem to deface murals. Go figure. In fact, that pattern seems to hold true of all metropolitan areas. Taggers, who fancy themselves "artists," seem to respect the work of mural artists.
