"Hot Fill" On West Broadway--But We Need More, More, More!

Photo and blog post by John Hoff

A couple of days ago I was driving down West Broadway, and WHAT TO MY WONDERING EYES SHOULD APPEAR but a road construction vehicle and a lone worker slinging hot fill--I confirmed it was hot fill, not cold fill--into the potholes of West Broadway.

This is indeed exciting, considering in some places there is more pothole than road. However, after the appearance of this lone vehicle no more vehicles have appeared and there are vast areas of North Minneapolis road still rough and neglected, particularly on Washington Avenue North and 26th Avenue North.

Public officials have told us the temperature needed to change before we'd get the hot fill. Now, with the temperature changed we are wondering...

WHERE ARE OUR ROAD REPAIRS?! Consider this blog post to be a distress signal, sent up from the neighborhood.

Time to prep the breach of fiduciary responsibilities pleading and serve the MNDOT with a class action.

Last week my mother had her lincoln towncar airbags (Shocks) tore out by potholes in the road. Right now her car rides 4 inches off the ground until she gets them replaced.

I hit a pothole coming back from Rosemount that was about a foot deep, 4 feet long and a foot wide. I though the wheels were going to fall off my car.

I sadly feel that this is the only way to get the repairs to the roads that we are told the gas tax, the tax on every gallon of fuel sold, are intended to fund, in addition to bridge maintenance. Say did anyone from MNDOT go to jail for negligent homicide over I-35? Did anyone get fired? Did anyone even get a letter of reprimand? Do you see what I am getting at-this is not a matter of small bumps/holes in the road, but a matter of life and death.

I'd like to see the movers and shakers of NOMI get some action on this. We pay more than our fair share of gas tax because many in our neighborhood drive vehicles with poor mileage. We should be getting more service from MNDOT to fix our roads.
