According to a criminal complaint filed in mid-July, click here for a copy, Valtrez Black pulled out a pistol and threatened to shoot a guy in a dispute over...
A desirable woman? A beloved dog? A big pile of drug money?
No, over a CELL PHONE.
Police say that on July 17 they were dispatched to 17th and Sheridan on a report of somebody who had been threatened with a gun...
...by somebody known on the streets as "Chief."
Here's a piece of advice for thuggy residents of North Minneapolis. If you're hanging out with somebody who doesn't even go by their real name either STOP HANGING OUT WITH THEM or make sure you know their real name for the inevitable moment you'll need to make a police report.
Anyway, the victim reported he'd left his phone plugged into a charger. When the victim came back, the charger was still there but Chief's phone was the one plugged in, and the victim's phone was gone. Naturally, the victim thought Chief had something to do with the disappearance of the phone. Chief responded by pulling a gun and saying "I'm gonna pop you."
The victim ran away and, well, it appears he somehow found a phone because he called police. Chief denied pulling a gun but admitted to arguing with the victim. Chief already has a robbery conviction so he's not allowed to play with guns. He was sitting in jail with bail set at $100,000 but was released to Anoka County for (I would presume) some other charges.
Valtrez "Chief" Black reportedly lives at 1410 Russell Ave. N., a homesteaded property owned by somebody whose surname is also "Black." This address has been the location of "Black's Recycling" and also S & J Bobcat Service.
Valtrez Black was born 11/23/88, so he's not very old. If I had to venture a guess based on the information about 1410 Russell Ave. N., I'd say his parents work their butts off while Valdrez "Bad Seed" Black is attracted to stupid thug lifestyle choices.
I just hope his parents are smart enough to let him rot in jail rather than mortgaging their house to make his bail.
