An interesting little bit of political gossip was passed on to me and, well, obviously I'm going to share the wealth...
Kenya McKnight is running against Councilman Don Samuels, (pictured here, on the right) apparently on a platform of "youth and energy" instead of actual knowledge and experience. Monday knight, (tee hee) McKnight was asked a question about the "Bottineau Corridor." For those who do not know, this is a transportation corridor which will come from the northern suburbs into Minneapolis, possibly along Lowry Ave. N. and, yes, it might involve light rail. A lot of this is in the planning stages.
But if you're running for City Council in North Minneapolis, you'd better know what the Bottineau Corridor is and have some ideas about it. Yet when asked a question at a forum--this was last night--Kenya McKnight said, well, she'd have to read up and get back to ya on that.

Well, this is such a mortgage geeky thing to post that there's no point in making it anonymous. Anyone reading it would say "Gotta be Jeff passing this along."
At the Take Action screening, one of the written questions with a written response was whether a candidate supported a foreclosure moratorium. Fannie Mae has looked into options where they continue to rent out some houses. Kenya said that she supports that model.
Ok, all fine and good, except that she continuously refers to Fannie Mae as Sallie Mae. Fannie Mae does home loans, and Sallie Mae does student loans.
I know it's a minor, technical detail, but come on folks! We are in the middle of a housing crisis of historic proportions. Kenya is doing good work around this issue, but we cannot afford to elect LEADERS who do not know the DETAILS.
Speaking of Kenya doing good work around the issue of foreclosures...what work has she done, and what work was she CLAIMING to have done?
but Jeff, think about it, maybe we can get Sallie and Fannie to combine some of their policies... mortgages can be written to annnnnyyyyyooooonnneeeee, always be at a low low rate, and payments can be deferred often and continually???
