Some of my neighborhood friends (Jeff Skrenes, Connie Nompelis--pronounced No-bliss, and Bryan Thao Worra) went to a bar, recently, to see Bryan off on yet another book tour. They thought the band sounded kind of familiar...
That's when they realized OH MY WORD it's the same band which does the distinctive sound track in the upcoming "Adventures of Johnny Northside" documentary.
The movie not really about me. I should THAT point out. I'm just kind of a performer, a stumbling clown who bumps into all kinds of interesting, committed people and the story is told in that way; the tale of a neighborhood pulling itself toward revitalization, seizing the foreclosure crisis as an opportunity to remake our neighborhood better, safer, greener.
Anyway...the Roe family is a great band and it was reportedly an eerie moment as the sound track to the movie of our lives played in the background of, well, our actual lives.

John, you totally missed the conspiratorial aspect of this event. I'm sure it wasn't JUST a coincidence. Observe the following factors:
1. We originally started out at the 1029 Bar, which has a lot of police kitsch on the wall. But the place wasn't really hopping, so we left. Probably because THE MAN wanted us to.
2. Bryan already knew some of the singers but CLAIMED NOT TO KNOW that they were the performers associated with the movie.
3. One of the singers ALSO CLAIMED to know NOTHING about the band's ties to the movie, and therefore Hawthorne.
4. The connection to the authorities and REPEATED DENIALS happened AT THE SAME TIME you were blogging about the Hawthorn Conspiracy.
This simply cannot be mere coincidence, and I'm amazed you can't see it. Wait a minute...DID THEY GET TO YOU ALREADY?

And they're one of the great musical treasures of the Twin Cities. :)
