Here is a recent entry from Kenya's Facebook campaign website, exactly as it appears including her boycott of oppressive and hierarchical capital letters and her revolutionary innovations in spelling...
Daniel Webster, calm thyself, and be still in thy grave, for here goes:
we thank all of you for your support & prayers. Our opponent was endorsed on the 3rd round, by receiving aprox 82 votes out of aprox 133. This is still a victory and we congradulate our opponent on his endorsement. Northside is still our priority and pride and the Majority of the community voices have not been herd, nor were they present Saturday at the convention. We will update you about our efforts to either end our journey or begin our quest to win the Nov 3rd primary elections.
Again, we thank you very much for your support and prayers.
# JNS here again, wanting to know if anybody told Kenya that November 3rd is not a "primary" election, it's the general election.
Of course, Kenya has been (reportedly) known to have opinions about the true nature of the American election process rather, um, different than that of most people. (Queen of England...cough...secretly in control...cough cough)

For the most part, it was shocking knowing that the Black “self-appointed leaders” in north Minneapolis don’t have a clue – which made me worry more about the process for Stimulus money and how these same people who attacked Mr. Samuels are some of same people positioning themselves as the “point” people that can do everything for the community when the Stimulus money arrives. These individuals lack an organization and process.
After many conversations with his opponent - Kenya McKnight, I wondered who the people were advising her and what was the plan of attack to unseat an incumbent Minneapolis City Councilman. McKnight had refused interviews with IBNN opting to show up in a front page article in a local north Minneapolis newspaper. The problem with bypassing potential interviews and being featured in a newspaper that is clearly anti-Samuels, the story was skewed; one paper; no press releases; no internet optimization of her website; no Google Alerts, and local MSM (Main Stream Media) were ignored. Maybe the advice she received a few months ago from a local elected official who instructed her to work on a campaign staff and see what the process was before you leap out on your own was not heard.
A rule to go by when you need information distributed, “One source is NEVER enough” and “no Minneapolis minority-ethnic media outlet can deliver the capacity to benefit an event, organization or cause.” It takes a combination of collaborations to achieve full reach and frequency.
To take a page out of the political campaign playbook, you learn quickly using one newspaper or one pipeline of information will run you in to a public relations dead end - which in this case sealed the coffin for McKnight’s campaign along with her local political associations and handlers. Ms. McKnight had the option to work with people who last year got enough votes for candidates to fill the Target Center 4 times over and raised collectively $4 million dollars for those candidates.
Again this brings up a variety of questions as it pertains to the “impotence” of the local “self-appointed” Black leaders that talk a big game, but have little to show for their efforts. I don’t have to mention the individuals that jump started this seemingly nice young ladies political career right in the toilet, they are the usual suspects.
@Don Allen, no disrespect, I believe you have mass PR abilities, but that would not have lead Kenya to victory yesterday. More PR would have just spread the word farther and faster about how DEEP she was in over her head.
Your PR machine can't give her experience, it can't finish her educaton for her, it can't give her the skills needed to navigate the processes at city hall, it can't help her be inclusive of ALL the residents of the northside instead of one demographic.... your PR could not help Kenya be ready for city council.
Dear Don't tell nobody who you are:
Your right, without the proper guidance and experience Ms. McKnight wouldn't have a chance. My issue is with the people around her that pushed her forward obviously without clear vision.
I have never made $1 out of north Minneapolis for business and its a sad day when the local "poverty pimps" can still go around and collect dollars and deliver nothing.
If my advise was taken by KM, the picture would be a little different today.
On the other hand, I like Mr. Samuels - even though I'm a Conservative Republican
Dear Don Allen - you are right - Kenya was pushed to the front of the line by a bunch of people who for what ever reason can't be the candidate themselves. They all want to beat Don, but they can't be the candidate, and they were actively trying to find someone who could beat him. After running out of options they pushed Kenya to the fron of the line. She pretty much said this on Al McFarland's radio show - you know - the one where Al Flowers announces he is running for Mayor of Crazytown.
I am saddened for Kenya that a bright future is being tarnished by associating with crazy people and by her thinking she is ready for city council when she is so clearly not. Does she not realize that an ineffective, unexperienced city council person would be a detrement to the community she says she loves and is working so hard for.
Kenya - please find a respectable person with experience and know-how and let them mentor you! You can do it!
I had a long litany of comments about this....
But I'll suffice it to chuckle quietly to myself.
hahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahha.
Karma.
dear midnight anon, please, don't keep all the chuckles to yourself... share the chuckles with your online community! i'd love to read your long litany of comments!
