Bashir Moghul's "Blue Building" Goes Down

Guest post and photo by the Hawthorne Hawkman

What many NoMi residents in Hawthorne and Jordan referred to simply as "the blue building," has been demolished. This structure, owned by Bashir Moghul and located at the southwest corner of Fremont and 24th, allegedly rivaled 3035 6th St N for its concentration of mold. It should be noted that during the demolition and appeals process, Bashir Moghul appeared to change his behavior slightly by...

...proactively showing up at Hawthorne and Jordan housing committee meetings. JACC did not support Moghul's appeal of this property's demolition. Hawthorne was pleased when he came to our meetings, as it is generally better to be in dialogue with people than not. However, since the property was not in our neighborhood, we took no official stance on it.

It should also be noted that when Moghul and a relative came to the Hawthorne meetings to garner support from wherever it might be found, they gave us a list of properties they owned in the Hawthorne neighborhood and offered tours of the places to show the kind of quality work they claim to do. Once the city made it clear that the demo order was going to stand, the Moghul's mysteriously stopped coming to our housing meetings. Hmmm.....

What I remember best about Bashir coming to the Hawthorne Housing Committee was when he first opened his mouth and said, "I come to your committee with GREAT HUMILITY."

Which, right away, you know that's a lie. I mean, THINK about it.
