A Shooting On The 1700 Block Of N. Lowry, Thuggy Bystander Reports Victim Was "Shot in the thigh, and s***."

Contributed photo, blog post by John Hoff

There was a shooting this afternoon on the 1700 block of Lowry Ave. N. The victim and circumstances are unknown at this time. Mainstream media is reporting nothing since nonfatal shootings interest them little, even though nothing separates the fatal from the nonfatal except dumb luck and, perhaps, a smidgen of correctly applying marksmanship skills.

With a lack of information from other sources, this blog will publish what little it knows...

A witness reports there was a taped off area in an alley on the north side of the 1700 block of Lowry Avenue North, and another taped off area on the south side of Lowry. Several young black men were detained at the curb. A bystander was asked what had happened, and stated somebody "got shot in the thigh, and s***."

The yards of several houses were included in the taped off areas.

Star Tribune gets the story published at 7:03 PM. We had it at 5:50 PM, and took time to finish supper before writing it.

17-year-old in critical condition after being shot in north Minneapolis

Updated: June 3, 2012 - 7:03 PM

A 17-year-old boy was in critical condition after being shot in the leg Sunday afternoon in north Minneapolis, police said.

The teenager was shot at Lowry and Knox Avenues N. at about 3 p.m., according to police spokesman Sgt. William Palmer. He was taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.

Nobody had been arrested by 6 p.m. Sunday, but police were searching a house at James and 31st Avenues N. for possible evidence after having obtained a search warrant, Palmer said. It wasn't yet clear, he said, how that house was connected to the shooting victim.
