I often see predatory offenders on the jail roster, and sometimes I informally "register" their addresses by dumping information into the comments section of one particular blog post. But Stonewall Jackson Drain (yup, that's really his name) managed to rack up actual criminal charges for (I guess it would be fair to say) really, REALLY not keeping himself properly registered.

Drain, who no doubt wishes he was in the land of cotton (or anywhere else for that matter other than the Hennepin County Jail) was picked up for reportedly following a woman at...
....29th and Oliver. Police ran his name and it turns out he was convicted of Third Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and, therefore, he's supposed to keep himself registered as a predatory offender. Drain had himself listed as a resident of the Aqua Hotel where he was supposedly staying with his sister.
Ewww.
Or, as Joe Dirt would put it, "You're my sister. Oh, god, you're my SISTER!!!!"
A "compliance check" had been performed some months ago and it turned out Stonewall Jackson Drain was non-complaint.
Was it an actual act of REBELLION? Well, I guess you'd have to ask Stonewall Jackson Drain.
Drain's address is listed on the criminal complaint as 6343 Bryant Ave. N. This address doesn't actually exist, unless you were to add "Oklahoma City" after it instead of Minneapolis.
It is strongly suspected that, within the confines of the Hennepin County Jail, Stonewall Jackson Drain doesn't go by his first name.

At what point can a convicted sex offender who was following a lone woman down a dark street be legally charged with "Attempted"-something? Assault? Kidnapping? Would he actually have to attack her? Thank you, MPD, for the rapid response. It's clear what probably would have happened to her had they not shown up quickly.

Do complaints ever get amended for giving false information to police for stating one lives at a non-existent address?
If you have such information, then provide it. Information like that gets added ("amended," if you prefer) all the time. Usually it's information along the lines of "it was his mother, and not him, that lived here so why do you have to be writing about this address, yada yada yada."
But as for the criminal complaints being amended for ADDRESS, no, I've never seen that. I've never seen the prosecutor go back and amend a complaint over the address.
I'm not saying it never happens. I'm just saying I've never seen an example that I can recall.
As for my comment at 8:01 I was just curious about your repeated catching of bad addresses. I have absolutely no information about any of this - just wondered.
I have certainly caught MANY bad addresses. My frequent public airing of "bad address" information doesn't appear to have any impact on the system checking addresses more closely before slapping the address on, for example, a criminal complaint.
