Cordell Q. Dalton, the latest victim of homicide in North Minneapolis who was discovered laying in the street at Sheridan and 8th Ave. N., had a minor criminal record and was on probation until July 16, 2015. Online records show he also used the alias "Daltin."

According to online court records, Dalton's most recent criminal conviction was for 5th degree drug possession. Though Dalton had a year sentence hanging over his head, he was on probation after serving 35 days in jail, for which he was credited. His probation conditions included not being in possession of firearms.

He had another 5th degree possession charge in 2010, and was on probation for that a year. His probation ended June 15, 2011. In addition, he had been found guilty of driving without a valid license. Twice.

Oh, and he was on Facebook. More on that in a bit.

Dalton was reportedly a cousin of local peace activist K.G. Wilson, who expressed regret to the Star Tribune that he (Wilson) couldn't save a member of his own family but vowed to try saving others.

Johnny Northside blog extends condolences to K.G. Wilson.

I do not like this blog because no one is perfect and although he might have done things prior to this horrible incident does not make it ok for anyone to take his life!! I am seeing more about the wrong he has done than trying to find out who murdered this young man!!! Ridiculous!!! I saw the one about his face book and everything is not always what it seems!!!!

Who cares if he had a background? What about your background? We don't bash you for your history "John", Furthermore, Your issues with alcoholism should be dealt with before you judge a DECEASED Individual.

I am not, nor have I ever been, an alcoholic. Nor do I drink to excess. And every friend and associate I have would testify to that including the one who gave me some really nice 3 year old brandy last night as part of our "Jill Clark said my name in court" drinking game.
