Lt. Rugel of the 4th Precinct seems to know a lot about...grilling things. The idea of PUTTING ON THE HEAT really appealed to him, somehow.
The tether of a helium balloon in this picture has produced a thin blue line extending into the fiery furnace of the grill. Interesting. I didn't see that until I downloaded the image.
Now I'm going to be like the social register which used to be a popular feature of newspapers in the olden days. I will list some other guests who were at the function. (If I don't include everybody, please use the comment function to add your name)
Mrs. And Mrs. Anderson Mitchell. Shiela The One-Woman-Army and her son. (She is quite the 911 caller and that's all I'm going to say) The Hmong family from 3018 6th St. N. and a whole bunch of their children. Patty Cake and the Polish Lady. (Patty Cake brought cole slaw, which was very good) Kevin Gulden of PPL. Jeff Skrenes and Bryan Worra of HACC.
Councilperson Diane Hofstede of Ward 3 and a whole bunch of her aides, bearing a delicious chocolate banana cake.
Late in the evening, four individuals who received word from the Humphrey Institute student listserv arrived, including the president of our student association, Graham F. Arntzen and his lovely girlfriend, Maylynn. Arntzen just recently returned from an internship in Washington, DC.
Dave Arbit and his friend Sky Satterstrom arrived by bicycle, making it a green night all around. Arbit is obsessed with maps. He says, "If a picture is worth a thousand words, a map is worth a million words." (He says it quite often, actually) He brought a city grid map, which was passed around and produced some fun discussions. We all learned what a "superblock" is.
A good time was had by all.
