Well, It Turns Out There Really WAS A Dead Body Near Jordan Pond On The Fourth Of July...

Photo By John Hoff, Content Censored By Police Action Under Color Of Law

This blog previously reported that "apparently" no dead body was found at 2818 Morgan Ave. N., and thank goodness I used that word "apparently" as per my formal journalistic training.

Though a broken door and an agitated white male was indeed the focus of police as I watched along with the Chair of the neighborhood association, and though we saw no body removed as we observed, well, um, it turns out...

There was indeed a body at the scene. I now have a copy of the police report, and here are the pertinent details about the body at 2818 Morgan Ave. N., as follows:
Officers responded to a DOA at the listed location. Officers arrived and observed that the rear door had been forced open. Inside the residence with the assistance of fire and ems, officers observed OT1 deceased in the upper level. 710 and car 21 responded to the scene. Medical examiner responded and retrieved OT1. Board arrived and secured the south side door.

Sgt. Freundschuh was notified of the situation.
It turns out the "agitated white male" was David Wayne Niedzielski of 2922 Morgan Ave. N., age 28, and he was arrested for kicking in the door and burglarizing the residence.

Unknown if the burglary charge stems from merely the door-kicking, or whether Niedzielski is accused of THE SICK AND MORALLY REPREHENSIBLE CRIME OF ROBBING THE DEAD, but the report says he "ransacked" the house.

How dare you put David's full name and address on your site. Yes he may make mistakes but he has a family and putting his address on here with his name could potentially endanger the life of his family! you never know who is reading your blog and if it's the wrong person, their lives could be in danger! Your blog is stupid to begin with, but you might be the most ignorant person ever!

He's the suspect in a crime. The crime is a matter of public information, just like his address. Judging by the behavior I witnessed firsthand, he's a bigger danger to HIMSELF than anybody is TO HIM.

Here's where information about the property and the owner of the property can be accessed.

Here's some info about "David's" criminal history.

Here's another great case.

"Terroristic threats."

Here's a drug crime that apparently put him on probation for five years but, by my calculations, probation was up as of 3/17/2009.

Guess what? THIS is the news, and I'm sure this is a lot more accurate and detailed than the "news." But, please, feel free to post a link. Then readers can compare and contrast and get a better idea what's going on.

Hey Anonymous, this "business" stopped being "David's" and became the public's business as soon as he was arrested. Seriously, what is with this anti-social what of thinking? I really would like to know how this terroristic threating and drug crime violator is "potentially" put in danager by talking about this?? He is living a dangerous lifestyle and people living around him have a right to know where the problems, on the block are coming from. If he feels like he is in danager, then he should move. So, anonymous, what are you so concerned about people talking about David' criminal history. Do you know that the vast majority of the people arrested committed the crime. Just look at all the guily pleas.

Don't blame Johnny for this guy's actions. David did this stuff, he is responsible - no one else. If anyone's endangering David's family, it's David. And David's personal "business" is dragging down the quality of life in your community.

Furthermore, it's not like Johnny is airing some secret information - these are all public documents. So I hope you're also emailing the City of Minneapolis, Ramsey County, Washington County, and KSTP and calling them ignorant too.

I have no doubt that innocent people are sometimes accused and even imprisoned, but the ponderance of evidence suggests that this guy is not one of them...

That's it, you gone and done it! said...

Regardless if Johnny put up David's info, or we looked it up. It is public information. Sounds like we have one of David's friends or family members trying to "protect" an offender. hmmm makes you wonder. If you think his meaning David's actions are ok, and allowed, I wonder what kind of background you have. I know that the criminals watch Johnny's blog, to see how close police are to break a case or to see how much people know about what is going on in the areas.

So, if I were you "anonymous" I would put up, or shut up. Everyones information can be looked up for free, all you need is a DOB, and a name. I wonder what kind of crimes you have been tried for?

What is this world coming to when a "caps lock troll" has made it all the way to the johnny northside blog?

I am all for freedom of expression AND for making sure that society has checks & balances in-place to make sure that people that are wrongly accused of a crime are afforded their day "in-court" and given a fair and impartial hearing of the charges brought against them.

What IS the alternative to not making individuals arrested (and charged) of a crime, a matter of public record? Keeping it secretive and hidden from the public? What's the next step? Would this be preferrable to anyone?

I can imagine the headlines now - "suspect arrested for home burglary of deceased neighbor and arrested after belongings of the deceased neighbor were found in the possession of the suspect. The outcome of this matter will be made public AFTER a trial, and if they are convicted, and is slated for some as yet to be determined point in the future".

This would make ME feel really safe if I were living in that neighborhood.

Johnny Northside said...

I think it's great we can have the discussion, and if David's allies want to defend him, hey, it's a free country and I'm happy to sponsor that discussion...short of terroristic threats.

Which "David" apparently has some history of making, according to public records.

Scummy and thuggish people who behave like this in my rapidly-revitalizing neighborhood can expect to find their stories up here. It's really only a matter of me getting my hands on the story and then having time to post it.

There is, however, a free speech thread, and lately a link at the beginning of every post. So you don't have to wait for JNS to blog about it if you want to tell your own story of unacceptable social behavior dragging down the quality of life in North Minneapolis.

And herein lies the conundrum. No one is willing to perform their civic duty and testify against murderers and rapists living on your block and you want to you it as an excuse as to yet another indicator as to how "corrupt" your municipal law enforcement is. Ever stop to think that maybe, just maybe, the two issues AREN'T connected?

Maybe you'd have less murderers and rapists living on your block, if you stopped having such a biased view against the law enforcement that's charged with locking-up the murderers and rapists living on your block and start supporting them (and free press & speech) even WHEN it wasn't convenient for you to do so.

To those that would chastise johnnynorthside for posting PUBLIC information regarding this matter-shame on you.

It is one thing to not get involved with your community. It's an entirely different matter when you choose to get involved when it's "conveneient" for you to do so. Those neighbors living close-by where this incidenet occurred have a RIGHT to know what's happening in their neighborhood. And this right for them to know, far-outweighs your right to keep this public information private.

If indeed you have the neighborhood's best interests at heart, you'll be willing to come to the table and help improve it. If you don't, you'll continue to snipe and be a part of enabling the biggest problem that currently exists on the northside - apathy and personal agendas.

Stop coddling criminals.

Stop (as I heard an intelligent person say recently) "thug-huggin"

It's unbecome to the neighborhood to accept such socially deviant behavior.

Johnny Northside, can you tell us more about the public information on David?

Oh, I love that phrase - "cap locks troll" Hi-larious!!!

The following story comes to you courtesy of the Hawthorne Hawkman:

I was walking to the Bangkok Market today when a car pulled to a screeching halt right in front of me on 31st and Lyndale. A woman was driving with three male passengers, and the one riding shotgun was clearly smoking a joint (visible and the smell was unmistakable).

The woman started screaming at the two in back to get out, although it was a 2-door, so Ms. Braniac actually had to get herself out first. This was turning physical very fast.

So I'm only a few feet away and I just stopped and looked at them, and whipped out my Blackberry (which I was NOT paid for by ill-gotten neighborhood funds, I might add) and called 911.

The fact that I was willing to visibly take that stand was the ONLY thing that kept the situation from escalating. The two guys in the back seat got out, looked nervously at me, and then they left and the car drove off.

Now, if I had names of the people involved, I'd run them through those websites and publish the heck out of that info.

Do NOT come into my community and pull this kind of CRAP. John and others, keep up the FREE SPEECH, *ESPECIALLY* when the information is already public!

As much as the world hates people like you, the so called "writers" wo amount to nothing more that gossip columnists, we know there is nothing we can do to stop you, but i do wish you would have a little consideration for his family when putting up the address, for the sake of the children, would you like someone to be able to find your son so easily? Tho i think what David did was wrong, i will defend him in any way i can because i have a heart, and by doing this, it does not mean i have a similar, if any, criminal history. people are murdered every minute, children are molested every day, why not write about something that could change someones life in a positive way? You know less about this story than i do and when i read your comments, you just sound naive, but hey, you gotta make a living, huh? Also, David's criminal backround does not pertain to this case in any way and might i remind you, he served his time and paid his debt to society for everything.

I would also like to add that the deceased sister live on the same street and he was dead for over 3 weeks without anyone knowing or checking on him. Sounds like a loving, caring family to me...

This is a horrible neighborhood to begin with, you cannot cross a street without seeing a prostitue on two of the corners, there have been multiple drug busts in the past weeks. You cannot blame all of that on David. So the neighborhood obviously already doesnt care.

Johnny Northside said...

That is NOT a true comment about my neighborhood, as numerous photos and stories here prove.

In fact, we have a great neighborhood with a relatively small number of bad apples like 2700 Morgan Ave. N. We are pushing out the bad and helping the good dig in. Yes, we have a long ways to go but we're getting there every day.

And in regard to the comment above's just such simplistic and stupid thinking to always point out somebody is WORSE, so why shouldn't I concentrate on THAT? Trust me, if there were a serial killer in my neighborhood, I'd be writing about it. Until then, I'll have to make do with David "Grave Robber" Nut-zhing-ski or whatever.

But I'd like to know why you think the body was there three weeks. I'm not sure if I've seen the amount of time published anywhere. Also, yeah, it is rather interesting how the sister lived nearby and yet the guy was dead for so long. I was going to raise that question myself but, well, you just took care of it for me.

It's a GREAT day to be an AMERICAN citizen in Nomi!!! Emjoying Freedom of Speech since 1791!!!

you say if there was a serial killer in your neighborhood, you'd take care of it, well why not start with the prostitutes posted at every corner? I absolutely, 100% agree that what he did was horrible and wrong, but to resort to name-calling on your part does portray ignorance. You clearly know how to spell his last name, as you released his entire name in your original comment, and to refer to the residents of the home as "bad apples" seems judgmental and snobbish.

I wrote the above comment on here that started this whole chain of arguing. I am not a family member but I have been close to his family for years. I am not defending him AT ALL for what he did, it was stupid and immoral, however, i DO care about those children that live at his address. yes he does have a criminal history, but you don't know anything about him, about his childhood, the things he had to live through. you don't know that he has had a hard life and he hasn't had very many authority figures to show him how to be a mature, moral adult. I am not saying that we should all excuse everyone who has a bad past, but the things we learn at a young age are instilled with us for the rest of our lives. we can "learn" right from wrong later in life but that doesn't mean that our brain won't revert to the first learned decision of crime. you have every right to say what you want, but please just be respectful of other people's lives! everyone is fighting a battle that we may no nothing about. the community has a right to know what happened, i would want to know, just please be respectful and don't be so rude!

That's it, you gone and done it! said...

Well I would prefer to know who and what my neighbors have done, or how far they are willing to go. I will call the police, I will send info to Johnny.

David, may have paid his debt to society, however, he still has a record so OBVIOUSLY he did not learn his lesson the first few times.

I think that if we as a neighborhood(s) paid as much attention to what our area was doing, who is selling ass, crack, dro, and minor pedaling of various items then North, South Minneapolis, would be better for our families. If the dumbasses would actually place garbage in the can, instead of the street our neighborhood would be clean.

If people think that various offenders should be protected, what about the innocent families that are violated by offenders?

Anonymous said...

the entire paragraph above about the neighborhood and selling of ass and crack makes no sense at all. Ya'll need to get some stimulation in your lives if this is it for you.

Isn't this around 30? You can't revert back to the "childhood" pains as an excuse for bad and illegal behavior after 30! Maybe what really needs to happen, if the true concern is the "children", is that the mother should reconsider her living arrangements around this guy is on a path of destruction and not teach those children his conflict resolution skills. Oh, and check out the other posts besides this one -- we call out the bad behavior of the prostitutes and pediphiles too! BTW - "Thats BS" - Jordan is a great neighborhood. Just hope you are calling 911 and 311 on the unbecoming behavior, and no letting it slide because you think that its someone elses business.

I am one of the neighbors, and I overheard them saying the body was there for at least 3 weeks, and I seen on the news that his sister did live about five houses away, not to mention all the family in an immediate area?Hmmmm sounds funny to me! Not to defend david but thats unmoral, but for some reason they dont air that?????

To 'Disgruntled' -

Have you even looked at JNS's other entries? He does post about the prostitutes, and encourages ALL who witness such activity to call MPD.

Or are you just concentrating on this one? What about when JNS posted info on a company vehicle that was seen at a well-known prostitution house? Actions were taken. His dedication to this community shows, and so much good has come from this blog.

Let's keep that ignorance comment to yourself for now.
