RNC 2008: "Liberty Squad" Wants You To Know Your Rights (Which Are, I Should Point Out, Mostly THEORETICAL Rights While In St. Paul, Minnesota)

Photos By John Hoff, September 1

Members of the ACLU "Liberty Squad" were everywhere at the September 1 anti-war rally and march, passing out "Know Your Rights" cards. In the picture below, a young man in a red bandanna reads the entire card INTENSELY before marching.

It was a hot day. I asked if they'd ever considered printing the material on the label of a water bottle, and passing out the bottles? (Some Christian groups did this)

But I'm sure that ACLU stuff came in handy, though mostly as material for a sarcastic comparison of the theoretical with the actual. I read a few moments ago there were more arrests at RNC 2008 than there were at the Democratic National Convention in 1968. Well, a lot of that was thanks to the leadership of Carlos from Los Angeles and the March Into A Meat Grinder. (Click here)

Without Carlos, breaking that record would have never been possible.
