Photo By John Hoff, September 4
On September 4, this contingent of bike cops went through the anti-war rally, not blocked or even subjected to any verbal comments by numerous rally participants. The bike cops paused for a while, watched a portion of the crowd intently, then suddenly made their move to arrest a guy who allegedly smashed windows at Macy's...a wicked corporation, read all about them here, boo hiss.
The police also arrested a woman who was with the (alleged) Macy's window smasher, charging her with third degree being-the-paramour-of-an-anarchist, and conspiracy to commit subversive nookie. It's possible the individuals arrested are in this photo, sitting on the corner of the grass. There was something tense about this moment, like they'd been "made." But I'm not positive it was the same individuals who were later grabbed.
This arrest quite predictably caused a messy confrontation with protesters, and media all tangled up in the middle of it, which I managed to capture on my video camera, click here.
