The meeting--which was carefully planned to avoid unnecessary expenses in these tight economic times--featured food from Bangkok Market and a lively talent show by Lundstrom Center For The Arts.

...yours truly, Johnny Northside, getting re-elected to the board of directors for a one-year term, hooray.

No, nothing like that. In fact, after the meeting I patted the Executive Director on the back and made an offhand, humorous remark about the financial situation.

Yes, I agree the Executive Directors comments about the financial situation were rather humorous, but I don't think he intended them to be so.
