Images of today's shooting near the (Notorious) Hawthorne Crossings Strip Mall were taken by myself, Megan Goodmundson, and my 12-year-old son, Alex, all working with the same camera. The photo above shows a crime scene van at the scene. Vast quantities of crime scene tape were used to block off the area. It's times like this I'd like to bring up the need to manufacture this stuff from biodegradable corn starch polymer.

Bystanders gather near the shooting victim on the sidewalk. The victim--a black male, muscular, age unknown but my estimate ranging from late teens to early 30s--would be to the left of the crowd, behind the shrub, laying on the sidewalk, covered by a gray blanket.

An individual believed to be a homicide detective.
In this photo above, a police officer carefully combs the grass near Burger King for clues. Two officers were seen to do this, for many minutes.

I wonder if this was at all related to the shooting at 2131 N 6th last night. This property has been a huge gang/drug house for all of us this summer. Around 9:30 last evening, shots were fired in front of this building and people were seen running towards the house. One girl was screaming, but we don't think anyone was hit. About 15 minutes later, more shots were fired and again a whole mess of people scattered.
Today while at the garden, I overheard one of the teenage males who lives here saying something about "When they come back..." to another of his gang-banger buddies. Earlier in the day, my neighbor heard them laughing about the shooting the night before.
I have absolutely no proof this is related, but who knows.
That's not a homicide detective, but a fantastic sergeant from another investigative unit.
@Yep - From what investigative unit? What's the sarge's name?
