Delicious, Nutritious Dandelions Now Available At "Uncle Lennie" Store!

Contributed photo, xo, above, photo by John Hoff, below

A couple days ago, a NoMi resident passed me a text message to pass along via my blog and Twitter:

Lennie Chism, cut the weeds at your building. (By which she apparently meant the former "Uncle Bill's store," which Lennie Chism purchased after it was designated for demolition, and now it's still scheduled for demolition, and Lennie acts like he's the victim of political oppression or something) So now somebody was complaining about the weeds. Well, they were pretty high.

But when I heard about the weeds I thought, "Here's my chance to become the first person to get fresh organic food at the new Uncle Lennie's store, and lay my little historical claim!" So I ran right out there and...

Ate some dandelions.

Well, technically I chewed the dandelions and spit them out, not because they weren't delicious but because I remembered the last time I was there, a Rottweiler dog had been along for the field trip, and he's QUITE TERRITORIAL, if you catch my drift.

Anyway, delicious and organic locally grown dandelions now available at Uncle Lennie's! Mmmmmmmmmm.

Unreal I tell ya. Absolutely unreal your fascination with this man. Btw you may want to report that he put his pants on one leg at a time and pisses standing up.

Again JNS you are in love with Lennie Chism in some sick kinda way.

I'm in love with getting my Lennie Chism news on JNS.

Thanks Johnny!

Are you trying to interfere with my love affair with Lennie?

I'm torn! SO TORN!!!!

John, when will you get over your unreal fascination with anyone you write about? Lennie Chism, Kenya McKnight, Jerry Moore, Ben Myers, Don Samuels, Larry Maxwell, John Foster, Mark Klukow, Jeff Skrenes...the list goes on and on.

And NoMi - don't even get me started on all the stuff you write about north Minneapolis!

Why are you so obsessed with a whole bunch of people, places, and events?

I read your blog all the time, and some entries I read more than once as I come back and look at everyone's comments. I can't believe what a waste of time it is for everyone involved.

Why don't you go and do something positive instead of tearing people down, you big, dumb jerk?

One comment rejected which was directed at Megan G., and was not substantive in nature.

Uuuhhhhh, isn't the title and theme of this blog "the adventures of johnny NORTHside???

Somebody hang one of those 'stupid people' signs around that guys neck so the rest of the world can be warned!!!

Well, reading another JNS article is wasted time I will never get back...

Its a shame modern technology has made it this easy for idiots to spew worthless opinions such as those of JNS on the web, or that I actually come back hoping for the day he finally ends his cerebral colonoscopy.

The only tragedy worse than the driveling diatribe of JNS, is that somewhere out there is a kid who actually looks to Johnny Northside as his male role model. If the blind negativity in his blog is any example, I pity the child that has to sift the wheat from that much psychological chaff just to spend time with 'dear old dad'.

What I have noticed is, despite dedicating this blog to his son, he never balances out the endless inflammatory hyperbole with excerpts of quality family time? Perhaps they don't exist?

Who wants to move to a neighborhood where this guy could be living next to you?

Johnny Northside said...

Yet another comment rejected from the same author, though I initially approved it. LOOK, if I'm going to reject a mocking and shallow comment, I'm not going to let the author of the comment play another version of the same game.

Johnny Northside said...

In regard to the excerpts of quality family time, it's pretty obvious you haven't read the blog very long. If anything, I have TOO MANY posts about my son, especially from mid-June to mid-August.

But it depends how you define "quality family time." I think watching a SWAT raid is a great father/son activity.

Anon at 3:36pm:

While in essence your comments wring true about the psychological potentials, JNS has spent a lot of posts framing his experiences with his son during extended visitation.

That's actually what I didn't like: posting pictures of his child and then blasting away at someone else.

Sort of like pimping your kid for the 'well-meaning dad/citizen' effect.

Anon 336 - are you kidding? Have you not seen the endless posts about John's son Alex and their quality time. Summer Visitation, taking him to court trials, dog walks and river walks. Books from the library. Dumpster Diving. Fourth of July celebrations and "end of visitation" parties on the Jordan Pond. Bug-eating parties. Mowing the lawns of foreclosed/vacant homes. Fire pits in the backyard of the movers-n-shakers.

Not to mention the endless hours of quality time that don't even hit the blog: trips to State Fair, day trips to U of M campus, countless movies at MOA and arcade games at Gameworks. Trips to Theo Wirth beach, cook-outs in the cushy burbs at friends and relatives.

If only your life was as vibrant and you could be so lucky as to have John as your neighbor(or your dad).

Give it up and try another personal attack on John, better yet, just go away or read in silence.

You are kind. Thank you. I guess when the house next door is sold to the buyers I keep meeting on the front lawn, we'll see who wants to move in next to me.

"a mocking and shallow comment"

pretty much characterizes JNS in a nutshell....if THAT isn't the pot calling the kettle black...

Wait... You mean there are people out there who AREN'T fascinated with Mark Klukow???? Where? Who? I don't believe it.

Apparently my sarcasm font was broken. I attempted to list a bunch of people and a wide geographic area that John tries to blog about. My point being that it seems no matter who he blogs about there's always someone who says, "What's your fascination with this person or issue?"

In the same way, some posters tend to call John names while being critical of John's penchant for the same tactic.

oh, Oh, OH, and I just LOVE how the blog gets criticized as a waste of time by people who are OBVIOUSLY wasting their time reading it.

I find explaining sarcasm to be boring, but it's better than being misunderstood.

I think I enjoy reading the comments as much as I do the blogging.

When the sarcasm font is broken, you have to notify the readers manually, like so:

Sarcasm font broken. Notifying the reader manually.

Like, here's an example of a blog post where the SARCASM FONT NOTIFICATION would have been very useful:

Speaking of ibnn.org, I liked Don Allen's recent opinion piece about how Bill Saningular (the owner of the former Uncle Bill's) was such a hero for running a gang hangout, and how residents and the city were so EVIL for having any objection to the drug activity, the prostitution, or the frequent shootings. At least now we know what Don Allen's model for an excellent business is. I understand that Don Allen's pro-business, extreme "property rights" point of view comes from his Republican ideology, however, I do wonder if his opposition to local government interfering with rampant drug and gang activity really is part of the Republican orthodoxy? We should ask Michele Bachmann to comment--maybe Don can get her to endorse Uncle Lennie's.

hey, somebody finally mowed the weeds in front of Uncle Lennie's! SOMEBODY must be following twitter! lol

The more pressing question is who had better friends to ask for help? Uncle Bill or George Roberts? I understand George Roberts got assistance from Jackie Cherryhomes. Does anyone know if Uncle Bill received over $200,000 to make Uncle Bills a better place? Or by the way, who did all that work at George Roberts Studio? Did the money go into George and Bev's pockets? Funny when you have friends like Jackie Cherryhomes.

I also wonder who had actual plans that addressed the necessary issues and took the support of the immediate community into account.

Whether you've got friends in high places or not, there's still a basic level of competence that plans for problem properties have to meet. Lennie has failed to even get to that point.

If he came forward with a solid plan and not just a lot of fluff and hot air, and THAT got turned down, then we can talk about political connections and what role they play.

Your statement is called conjecture. Reality is an Audit such as was conducted by the JACC board which clearly states by transaction a minimum of $90,000 of highly questionable miss-manged funds. Unless you believe 1AM bar tabs @ Gabby's for the E.D. should be covered by a nonprofit without explanation?
