JACC Livability Forum Reconstituted Under Kip Browne's "New Majority" Leadership...

Info comes by listserv that the JACC "livability forum" is being revived, after a long dormancy under the ineffective "Old Majority" leadership which brought JACC to the edge of total collapse and financial ruin in the name of being "pro-community" and therefore "anti-revitalization."

Here is the word that I heard, word for word:

For the first time in several years, JACC is holding a community/livability forum on May 21st at St. Anne's Senior Residence at 2323 26th Avenue N from 6 to 8 p.m.

This is an opportunity to come together, meet your neighbors and to discuss and contribute to plans for Jordan. All are welcome! Bring the kids. Get involved. Be part of the solution!

Wish I could be there!! I'll be a part of 'senior citizen's night' at Gramma Norma's! Out of town guests from Virginia bring lots of relatives out of the wood work - family duty calls! I'll be there in spirit.

Long overdue. The livability forum started shortly after the "riot" at 26th & Knox in the summer of '02 I believe.

Little known fact - many of the "New Majority" worked very hard in the year of '02 to actively seek-out and encourage minority members of Jordan to run for JACC's board that year.

Another little-known fact - in order that these prospective neighbors be able to attend JACC meetings, the current City Counilmember - Don Samuels suggested and worked hard to make sure that day care services were available to those with children, so they could attend meetings.

Anne McCandless sent out the following communication by email to various recipients:

In the interest of fairness and accuracy, this will be the first Jordan
Livability Forum since June 2007. Jerry canceled them altogether in January of
2008.

Having spent 5 hours on the witness stand this week and more hours before that giving sworn depositions, I want to make it PERFECTLY CLEAR that it has only
been two (2) years since the last Livability Forum, not several.

Hope everyone can make it to the Forum.
