New Developments At The Apartment Complex Of Anarchy

I was really hoping 3101 6th Street North would be evacuated after the deadline set by the city, which was May 15. (With an apparent "grace period" of a day or two)

You'd think a 16-year-old hiding crack cocaine up his posterior and dealers using the front door window for business like hookers in Amsterdam would be enough to keep a rental license from being renewed, on top of the other documented crack cocaine arrests at that property, the garbage in the yard. Rumor has it the property has been wrecked inside, with stuff carted off.

Therefore, do not renew the rental license.

Duh. You would THINK that.

However...

Here is the latest info from "back channel" sources.

The management company came in at the buzzer on Friday afternoon with a rental license application. Even if the license is approved (oh, please, God in heaven, if not for me then for Peter and his children, MAKE THE CITY DENY THAT RENTAL LICENSE) then the apartment will still retain its "problem property" status. Calling 911 on blatant drug dealing will still rack up incidents and count against the rental license.

Uh huh. Well, right now the place is crack-o-topia. I saw a prostitute there the other day who usually works over by Lowry and Emerson, many blocks away.

According to what I heard, the company literally came in with the paperwork at the last hour. As frustrating as this is, it appears to be on the radar of public officials. We have the right people working on it, but they have their rules to follow.

I hope to God my 911 calls--some resulting in arrests, including the "crack hidden inside the crack incident," which has yet to hit the next 4th Precinct summary "highlights"--will be enough to deny a rental license. In the meantime...it appears I still have work to do.

Good thing I got my cell phone repaired.
