Landscaping Improvements Along Lowry Ave. N. Are Part of NoMi Revitalization...

Contributed Photo

Me and an active, involved citizen from the Jordan Neighborhood were driving around on Lowry Ave. N., looking for hookers (so we could take their pictures, call police, etc.) when we noticed...whoah!

Large portions of Lowry Ave. N. had been....

...either planted with new decorative trees, or prepared for tree planting. These improvements are part of the MILLIONS AND MILLIONS OF DOLLARS being poured into North Minneapolis right now. Revitalization is popping up all over, every time we turn around. I don't know if any other media is going to get this excited over a few decorative trees but, hey, I thought I'd say something while sitting here with my laptop, waiting for a ride to court so I can report on the battle over which Jordan Neighborhood Association is the "True JACC."

Note to self: need stock photo of Kool Aid for "Kool Aid Cult" references.

I hate to pee in your iced tea, but it won't be a couple of weeks before they are all knocked down. They put nice trees on Broadway and people just drove over them. This is the North Side. We aren't allowed to have nice things.

NO, NO, NO, NO!

Come on, anonymous! First and foremost, it is EXACTLY that kind of attitude that we cannot afford to perpetuate in our community. We deserve good things in NoMi and we're making it happen.

Philosophical arguments aside, Lowry is not the same as Broadway in terms of the foot and vehicular traffic. I don't see the same things happening with trees up there.

I really think that part of the way to revitalize an area is by having a positive attitude. While it is difficult to stay positive, it is vital the continued improvement of our neighborhood.

I believe that small things go a long way.

North Minneapolis is allowed to have nice things, and people continue to bring nice things into North Minneapolis; however, there are a certain amount of folks that don't feel good about their self, and wish to destroy that which is good. There is also folks out there that, never had nice things, so in-turn do not know how to react to positive things.

THEN IT IS TIME THAT THEY LEARNED TO APPRECIATE NICE THINGS AND BE POSITIVE THAT SOMEONE CARES ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH THEY LIVE, SURVIVE OR DIE.

Anonymous really doesn't hate to piss in the ice tea, s/he did it and enjoyed it! Pissing and moaning gives uphappy people a sense of superiority. Whatever ... too bad because they

The revitalization of Lowry has been a process and I think it's fascinating to watch. I have a negative nelly friend who recently whined about the lack of trees on Lowry and I said, they're coming. Look, they're here dumb@$$.

Also, please give extra support to businesses affected by the closing from Penn to the Parkway.
